  • Patent number: 11445731
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for tying multiple portions of a mass filled into a casing (8) at tying points provided for this purpose using a thread (10). The device comprises a rotor (1) and a guide device (20) which is connected to the rotor (1) for guiding the thread (10). The rotor (1) has a receiving section (18) for receiving multiple windings of the thread (10), and the device is designed such that the thread (10) is guided from the receiving section (18) by the guide device (20) and is wound about the tying point during a rotation of the rotor (1). The device additionally has a reservoir for receiving the thread (10), wherein the device additionally has a supply device (9), and the supply device (9) is designed to either supply the thread (10) from the reservoir (12, 15) to the receiving section (18) or to remove the thread from the receiving section (18).

  • Patent number: 5221228
Abstract: A device automatically forms a suspension loop of sausage at preprogrammable intervals in a machine for automatically tying, by string with a knot, meat stuffed in a casing. The machine has an orifice through which a stuffed casing passes, jaws for gripping the casing, a reel for holding a reserve of string, and a guide for moving the reel around the casing. The reel makes it possible to avoid unwinding of the string by inertia in a descent phase within the guide due to the fact that the reel has two heads which have identical geometric shapes provided with vertices, i.e. points. These vertices run along the guide with friction of a preset amount so that the vertices are able to make the reel, at the end of a movement cycle around the casing, retain a preset kinetic energy.

  • Patent number: 4991792
Abstract: A reel for twine for a machine for tying knots, the reel having two heads and a hub that interconnects and is rotatable relative to the heads, and a plurality of rolling elements spaced about the periphery of each head and protruding outwardly from each head and adapted to roll on the interior of a guide housing of a machine for tying knots. Two adjacent rolling elements contact and roll about the interior of the casing, and this prevents the bodily rotation of the reel that would occur if the heads were round and free to roll.

  • Patent number: 4401329
Abstract: A machine for automatically tying knots in meat stuffed in a casing by means of a string, comprises an assembly for squeezing the casing over a given extent prior to tying, and a spool unit comprising a spool carrying a supply of string. The spool is rotatably enclosed in a housing which moves only parallel to the axis of feed of the casing. A mechanism having an opening for the passage therethrough of the casing and a hook-shaped member for the passage therethrough of the spool unit, carries elements for temporarily supporting the string over a polygonal path, as well as a relatively axially movable element for detaching the string from the support elements. The use of the mechanism having the hook-shaped component and rotatable to wind the string around the casing, in combination with the spool unit for linearly dispensing the string, permits tying in a spiral direction and also simplifies the design of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4394987
Abstract: Mechanism for rotating a spool adapted to receive a supply of filament, about the axis of the spool, comprising an electric motor which moves bodily axially toward and away from the spool to make and break the spool drive, respectively. According to the invention, the motor is mounted for limited rotation relative to its support, against the action of a spring, when the tension in the filament increases, thereby to make gradual the rise in tension of the filament. A limit switch is provided to limit this bodily rotation of the motor; and upon actuation of the limit switch, the motor is withdrawn from the spindle, thereby interrupting the spindle drive and releasing the torque that was applied by the filament to the motor, whereupon the motor is rotated by the spring back to a rest position.
