Abstract: Ranking materials for post combustion carbon capture by characterizing sorbent materials with a molecular model workflow that generates microscopic figures of merit for materials by microscopic properties; and evaluating the materials from the molecular model workflow with a process model workflow that generates macroscopic figures of merit for process steps of a carbon recovery process. The materials for applicability as a sorbent material are ranked using a combined microscopic performance and macroscopic process feasibility generator that ranks the materials according to the microscopic figures of merit for materials and the macroscopic figures of merit for the process steps.

Abstract: A system and method for selecting a communication connection candidate for transmission of a media stream via a media connection over a communications network can include use of the ICE protocol for selecting a transmission communication connection candidate for transmitting the media stream from a local peer to a remote peer. During transmission of the media stream from the local peer to the remote peer via the selected transmission communication connection candidate, the communication connection candidates can be tested with respect to Quality of Service (QoS), in both communication directions. The QoS of at least one tested communication connection candidate can be compared to the QoS of the selected communication connection candidate transmitting the media stream. If a tested communication connection candidate provides a better QoS, then the transmission of the media stream can be switched to that communication connection candidate.

Abstract: A cigarette having reduced ignition propensity and machine for making the cigarette is disclosed. The machine applies a material in longitudinal bands onto the cigarette wrapper for reducing the ignition propensity of the cigarette. The material may be applied by roller, spray or printing.
