  • Patent number: 9593975
Abstract: A method for determining a liquid level in a boiler of an apparatus having a temperature sensor for sensing a temperature which is indicative of a temperature of the liquid inside the boiler, includes inducing a temporary deflection of the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor; determining an evaluation temperature sensed by the temperature sensor after inducing the deflection; and determining the liquid level from at least the evaluation temperature. The evaluation temperature is determined by monitoring the deflection and by defining an extreme value of the deflection as the evaluation temperature.

  • Patent number: 8938976
Abstract: An intermediate support frame (68) that spans an inner diameter of a support ring (48) of a gas turbine combustor cap assembly (24) at a position intermediate the length of the support ring. The intermediate support frame may have a central encirclement (72) that receives a central fuel pre-mix tube (44) of the combustor cap assembly, and may further have a circular array of outer stabilization rings (70) that each receive a respective outer pre-mix tube (42). The central pre-mix tube may be affixed to the central encirclement (72), for example by welding. The outer pre-mix tubes may be slidably engaged in the outer stabilization rings (70), providing lateral stability while allowing differential thermal expansion. • Patent number: 8580089
Abstract: A system is submitted here that permits superimposing an alternating current in the process of electrolytic refining of metals based on the use of power semiconductors without requiring an external source and which minimizes the utilization of passive elements, achieving a high efficiency solution applicable to high power industrial processes. The invention consists of the division of the cells involved in the metals electrolysis process in two groups of cells (3a) and 3b, both comprising a similar number of anode-cathode pairings, and with both groups linked by a common point for electrical connection (6), and interconnected by means of a bidirectional power converter (7). Said power converter (7) is connected to the common point for electrical connection 6 of the groups of cells (3a, 3b) and to the other two connection points of each group of cells, so that its operation permits transferring power from one group to the other.

  • Publication number: 20100107886
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of determining a liquid level in a boiler (12) of an apparatus (10) having a temperature sensor (24) for sensing a temperature (T) which is indicative of a temperature of the liquid inside the boiler (12), comprising the steps of: inducing a temporary deflection of the temperature (T) sensed by the temperature sensor (24); determining an evaluation temperature (Tev) sensed by the temperature sensor (24) after inducing the deflection; and determining the liquid level from at least the evaluation temperature (Tev). Advantageously, the invention provides that the evaluation temperature (Tev) is determined by monitoring the deflection and by defining an extreme value (Tmax, Tmin) of the deflection as the evaluation temperature (Tev). Further, the present invention relates to an steam generating apparatus adapted for executing such a method, a domestic appliance having such a steam generating apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7096649
Abstract: While the manufacturing of integrated circuits (IC) has become a mostly automated process, the loading of the ICs into storage and shipping tubes 105 still requires a large amount of human interaction. A major stumbling block to the automation is the removal and insertion of retention pins 115 in the tubes. The present invention uses pressurized air 406 to hold a partially extracted retention pin 115 in position while the tube 105 is loaded. Once loaded, the retention pin 115 is reinserted. By not fully extracting the retention pin 115, alignment is maintained, simplifying the reinsertion step.
