  • Publication number: 20060204149
Abstract: A bag has an open top and an adjustable drawstring for closing the open top. The drawstring has two ends, a stop section formed by a knot or a ridge disposed at approximately a center of the string to divide the string into a first side and a second side, and means for reducing the length of the drawstring after the bag is closed, said means causing one side of the string to slide against another side of the string to cause the string to form two loops. In one embodiment the means is an O-ring positioned on the first side of the string near the knot. The first side of the string is looped around and through the O-ring again, and the second side of the string is then threaded through the O-ring.

  • Patent number: 6398410
Abstract: A laundry bag is provided that is comprised of an open end and a closed end having an excess of material therebetween. Also provided on the laundry bag are a loop and a drawstring. A sliding device is attached to the drawstring to allow opening and closing the bag. To assure that the proper amount of clothing is placed inside the bag, the laundry bag hangs from a support structure, by the provided loop and drawstring, in a folded manner. The open end of the bag is exposed for inserting clothing therein. Hanging the laundry bag in this folded position forms a front compartment that has an available laundry receiving volume of about 15% to 55%, and a rear compartment so that clothing can expand therein during the drying cycle.

  • Patent number: 6224259
Abstract: A laundry bag is provided that is comprised of an open end and a closed end. Two loops are attached to the laundry bag. The first loop is located adjacent to the closed end, and the second loop is located adjacent to the open end. The laundry bag further comprises a drawstring which is moveably coupled to the open end and contains a fastener. To assure that the proper amount of clothing is placed inside the bag, the laundry bag hangs from a support structure, by the provided loops, in a folded manner. The open end of the bag is exposed for inserting clothing therein. Hanging the laundry bag in this folded position forms a front compartment that has an available laundry receiving volume of about 15% to 45%. Leaving an excess of laundry bag volume allows for clothing expansion during the drying cycle.

  • Patent number: 4628030
Abstract: For the production of rhamnolipids which can be used as surfactants, microorganism of the genus Pseudomonas are cultivated in a aqueous medium suitable for the growth of the microorganisms under growth conditions; in this process the microorganisms are cultivated in a continuous submerged culture under aerobic conditions, with a continuous supply of fresh culture medium and with continuous removal of a culture solution and microbial cells (biomass); the culture medium has a composition suitable for limiting growth by means of at least two-fold limitation of essential growth substances; a solution of the rhamnolipids produced as metabolite of the microorganisms is separated from the culture broth. For this purpose a continuously operated bioreactor (11) is suitable.

  • Patent number: 4186752
Abstract: An improved blood-taking device of the type wherein a hypodermic needle is inserted into a blood vessel and one or more evacuated containers in succession are connected to the needle for collecting blood samples comprises a support portion which supports the needle and a container portion including a projecting tube, the tip of which can be joined to the support portion in a combined axial and rotational movement. The container portion includes a valve which can be opened in a continuation of the rotational movement used for joining the tube to the support portion. The structure of the components is such that the valve in the container portion is opened only after the container is joined to the support portion through the tube.

  • Patent number: 4106491
Abstract: An improved device for the introduction of fluids into blood vessels, and, particularly, into veins, includes a cannula-containing portion fitted with a valve which is normally closed. A connector portion can be connected to a source of fluid such as IV, special medication or alimentation. The connector portion is so shaped that it can be joined tightly to the cannula-containing portion, simultaneously and automatically opening the valve so that fluid can pass in sequence through the connector portion and through the cannula. A metal cannula can be used where fluid is to be supplied for moderate periods such as a few hours. Where fluid is to be supplied for longer periods, provision is made for introduction into the blood vessel of a cannula of a plastic which is low in thrombogenicity and tendency to cause phlebitis.

  • Patent number: 3996923
Abstract: An improved blood-taking device of the type wherein a hypodermic needle is inserted into a blood vessel and one or more evacuated containers in succession are connected to the needle for collecting blood samples has two valves therein. The first valve closes the proximal end of the needle section when a container is not connected thereto, and the second valve makes it possible to control the difference of pressure utilized for drawing blood from a subject. The second valve can be closed rapidly in the event it is discovered that the needle lies in tissue exterior to a blood vessel rather than in a blood vessel itself, thereby preventing extravasation and hematoma.
