  • Patent number: 7781023
Abstract: A method of producing an electroluminescent display is provided. A medium is obtained from a stream of commerce. The medium is activated to form a pattern such that the medium emits light by electroluminescence according to the pattern in response to electrical energization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 11, 2005
Date of Patent: August 24, 2010
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Luis Aldarondo, Terry M. Lambright, Philip S. Burkum, Darrel E. Pozzesi
  • Patent number: 7276852
Abstract: A lamp—suitable for use within a projector or other high-light output application—includes an ultra high pressure bulb. An extension from the bulb defines a start-up bubble. A conductor is carried by the extension of the ultra high pressure bulb, generally enclosing the start-up bubble, thereby exciting gas contained within the start-up bubble. A header defines a socket within which the extension and the conductor are carried.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 9, 2004
Date of Patent: October 2, 2007
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: John M. Koegler, III, Luis Aldarondo
  • Publication number: 20070080632
Abstract: A medium for creating an electroluminescent display is provided. The medium includes an assembly of joined layers. The joined layers include one or more layers configured to be activated regionally to form a pattern such that electrical energization of the assembly produces electroluminescence according to the pattern.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 11, 2005
    Publication date: April 12, 2007

  • Publication number: 20070029939
Abstract: An electroluminescent sign and a method for selectively illuminating such an electroluminescent sign is disclosed. The method can include steps of creating an electroluminescent sign having an electroluminescent region and a coded information region, the coded information region providing instructions to illuminate the electroluminescent region. The method can further include steps of reading the coded information region to obtain the instructions, and selectively illuminating the electroluminescent region according to the instructions provided by the coded information region.
