After starting an execution of a first task, the execution of the first task is suspended a plurality of times for a respective plurality of time intervals. A second task is executed during at least one of the plurality of time intervals. The first and second tasks are performed by a single-core microprocessor digital signal processor with a microprocessor and a digital signal processor combined on a single chip.
