  • Patent number: 7621743
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved self-ligating orthodontic bracket. According to one embodiment, the improved orthodontic bracket includes a mounting base for attachment to a tooth surface, an archwire slot formed upon the base and sized for receiving an orthodontic archwire, a channel formed upon the base and transversely oriented to the archwire slot, and a ligating slide member slideably retained within the channel and closeable over the archwire slot for retaining the orthodontic archwire therein, and wherein the ligating slide member includes at least one coplanar resilient retention mechanism for exerting retention forces coplanar with the ligating slide member for holding the ligating slide member in a closed position. In one embodiment, the improved orthodontic bracket comprises a bracket with a ligating slide member slideably retained within a dovetail shaped channel.

  • Patent number: 7618257
Abstract: Auxiliary element for the segmented distalisation of the posterior jawbone sector from canine to molar in orthodontic treatment. The element includes two elements, a mesial segment composed of an anterior enlargement which with its inner base is fixed to the canine by adhesive and with its external portion facilities retention of an elastic element, an arched extension in the shoulder, finished off by a ball-and-socket member at its end which is introduced into a receptacle located in the middle portion and outside of the distal segment by its base is joined by adhesive to the upper molar, wherein the device can advantageously be produced from translucent or transparent materials.

  • Publication number: 20060051721
Abstract: The invention relates to improvements which are applicable to supports comprising a base which is used to fit and fix the support to a tooth in a removable manner. Moreover, an upper body extends out from the aforementioned base, said body comprising a recess for the positioning of securing wire elements. The invention is characterized in that it comprises a sliding element which can slide in a guide on the body and which can be used to close the aforementioned recess, thereby enclosing the wire therein while remaining slidably connected to the part of the body comprising the recess for the securing wire. The invention also comprises elements which are used to retain the sliding element on the guide, defining stable open and closed positions for the securing wire recess.
