  • Patent number: 12469964
Abstract: Methods of antenna pointing and antenna assemblies implementing those methods are disclosed. An example method includes providing a user terminal antenna assembly including an antenna and an auto-peak device. The antenna includes a reflector, a subreflector, and a feed, the feed oriented relative to the reflector and the subreflector to produce a beam. The antenna further includes a tilt assembly to tilt the subreflector relative to the reflector and the feed. The method further includes providing a control signal to tilt the subreflector in a plurality of tilt positions to move the beam while measuring corresponding signal strength of a signal communicated via the antenna at each of the plurality of tilt positions. Additionally, the method includes selecting a tilt position from the plurality of tilt positions based on a measured signal strength, and providing the control signal to tilt the subreflector to the selected tilt position.

  • Publication number: 20230314605
Abstract: A sensor system including an optical fiber comprising a first spatial channel and a second spatial channel, wherein the spatial channels are coupled and electromagnetic radiation propagates with different group velocities in each of the spatial channels. The sensor system further includes a source inputting the electromagnetic radiation into the first spatial channel at an input; and a detection system coupled to an output of the fiber, the detection system including a detector detecting transmission of the electromagnetic radiation coupled into the second spatial channel at different positions along the fiber between the input to the output, and generating a signal in response thereto; and a computer processing the signal to obtain a localized measurement of a physical parameter at one or more of the different positions along the fiber.

  • Publication number: 20070184046
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of phospholipases, v.gr. sPLA2, as an active agent in the production of pharmaceutical and/or cosmetic compositions for the treatment of diseases caused by micro-organisms, the envelope or membrane of which comprises phospholipids, particularly glycerophospholipids. In particular, said invention relates to the use of sPLA2 from Crotalus durissus terrificus venom as a biocide component for the preparation of compositions for the treatment of viral infections, particularly acquired immunodeficiency states VIH-1 and VIH-2, bacterial and parasitic infections, such as infections caused by plasmodium and leishmania-type parasites.

  • Publication number: 20050196242
Abstract: A compensating suspension element configuration, in Y format, which tends to minimize undesirable movements at the top of suspended pipes in floating structures and to facilitate the arrangement of incoming pipes and the correct operation to install and connect these. More particularly, this design is applicable for use in deep and ultra-deep water operation and prioritizes the operational performance of flexible pipes (risers) and other pipes that arrive at the floating structure.
