  • Patent number: 9669143
Abstract: System structured to facilitate a movement of a myocardial wall by pushing such wall with a force originated due to energy harvested by the system from a motion of a ventricular chamber without the use of any external energy. The system includes two pliable storage volumes fluidly interconnected by a passage to form a closed circuit that enables a movement of the fluid from one storage volume to another in response to a user input. Optionally, one of the storage volumes is encased in a cover characterized by a spatially-non-uniform distribution of elastic properties. The method of using the system includes juxtaposition of one of the storage volumes with a ventricular chamber and another of the storage volumes with a targeted myocardial wall to enable reversible flow of fluid within the system during a cardiac cycle.

  • Publication number: 20170011563
Abstract: A discloses system and method utilizes sensed oscillatory characteristics of a vehicle to detect a defect within a tire. The system utilizes information from sensors that are not disposed within a vehicle tire to detect tire defects. Information of oscillatory characteristics of the vehicle are analyzed to determine if the vehicle is operating as expected, or if a defect on the tire has changed the expected characteristics. Once a determination is made that a defect is present, an alert signal can be initiated to alert an operator that corrective action is required.

  • Patent number: 7955247
Abstract: Methods of and devices for restoring the normal geometry of a heart, including but not limited to the structures supporting the atrioventricular valves. The techniques and devices described herein operate on the principle of displacement, both active and passive, to reverse cardiac remodeling and limit ischemic atrioventricular valve regurgitation.

  • Publication number: 20050257185
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a logic simulation having a controllable delay model implemented therein that may be used to validate AC I/O loopback design in a pre-silicon environment by introducing delay models that allow the logic simulators to simulate analog behavior. For one embodiment of the invention, a fixed processor ratio is selected and delay statements of the hardware description language correspond to a specific time delay. These fixed values provide the ability to accurately determine and adjust delay in an analog simulation.

  • Patent number: 6695768
Abstract: This device aims at correcting distortions in spatial geometry and function of the heart muscle, thereby restoring valvular integrity and optimizing myocardial performance. The device is applied externally to the heart, fixed in the chest cavity or wall, while maintaining flexibility and selectively targeting specific points of varying size, tension, and force requirements. This minimally invasive device and method of application will contribute toward a reduced rate of mortality and morbidity from heart disease.

  • Publication number: 20020040010
Abstract: The invention provides methods of treating a subject at risk for a heart disorder. The method includes delivering a compound to the heart of a subject which alters the ratio of SERCA2a and phospholamban in the heart or heart cells of a subject. The invention also provides methods of evaluating a treatment for a heart disorder; a heart cell, into which has been introduced by somatic gene transfer, a nucleic acid which results in the expression of phospholamban; a heart tissue, into which has been introduced by somatic gene transfer, a nucleic acid which results in the expression of phospholamban; and a heart, into which has been introduced by somatic gene transfer, a nucleic acid which results in the expression of phospholamban.
