    Abstract: The invention relates to the field of oncology and cancer treatment. The invention relates to methods for predicting the risk of recurrence of breast tumors using the expression signature of particular miRNAs. Specifically, the invention relates to a method for determining the risk of recurrence of breast cancer which comprises measuring the expression levels of at least one miRNA selected from the group consisting of miR-149-5p (SEQ ID NO: 1), miR-10a-5p, (SEQ ID NO: 2), miR-20b-5p, (SEQ ID NO: 3), miR-30a-3p (SEQ ID NO: 4), and miR-342-5p, (SEQ ID NO: 5) in a sample of the tumor, wherein a change in the expression level of at least one miRNA in the tumor with respect to the expression level in a control sample is indicative of a high risk of recurrence of the tumor. The invention also relates to tools and kits for carrying out the method of the invention.
