  • Publication number: 20090074340
Abstract: Modular bearing unit that makes it possible, as desired, to establish the number of bearings that are involved therein in accordance with the specific needs of each case and with the essential aim of achieving a reducing effect, of variable amplitude, as a function of the number of bearings involved in the unit. It is a further object of the invention to facilitate not only coupling between the modules involved in the unit but also coupling to the bearings of the corresponding accessories in each case, such as pinions, pulleys, etc.

  • Publication number: 20080005305
Abstract: An information handling system includes a processor, system memory, and a storage medium. The storage medium includes an object manager that is accessible to a client management application. The object manager includes first and second sets of class instances instantiated in first and second vendor namespaces, respectively. An uber set of class instances is instantiated in an uber namespace. A class instance in the uber set of class instances is associated with a vendor namespace class instance in one of the first or second sets of class instances. An uber provider instantiates objects in the uber namespace. The uber provider services a client management application request by indicating an action and a class including identifying instances of the class in the first and second vendor namespaces and causing the action to be performed with respect to the identified class instances.

  • Publication number: 20070216481
Abstract: The present invention is related to low power low noise amplifiers (LNA) including on/off switching capability, which are preferably used for impulse radio (IR) ultra-wideband (UWB) receivers. In the invention a very low power and high-gain Common-Gate Capacitive Cross Coupling Cascaded LNA is proposed, to provide an optimum gain for large ON times. The invention provides also a Common-Source Cascoded LNA for shorter received pulse widths, with the aim of implementing a fast ON/OFF switching. An input signal is applied to a first amplifying stage and the switching means are coupled to a second amplifying stage so that they do not interfere with the matching network of the first stage. The invention is also related to a method of amplifying a radio frequency signal using a plurality of low noise amplifying elements.

  • Patent number: 6553158
Abstract: An optical resonator having a non-continuous waveguide having first and second confrontingly opposite end faces between which is defined a region and having a continuous optical path defined through the waveguide. The optical resonator can be tuned to a particular resonant wavelength by providing a phase shifter in the region between the first and second end faces and positioning the phase shifter so as to introduce a phase shift in an optical signal propagating through the waveguide and along the optical path. A method for effecting such a phase shift.

  • Patent number: 6493482
Abstract: An optical switch having an input waveguide and two output waveguides separated by and disposed around a trench. The input waveguide and a first output waveguide have respective optical paths defined by their respective cores which are coaxial with each other. Those waveguides are also separated by a trench having a medium provided therein that has a refractive index different from that of the waveguides. The input waveguide and a second output waveguide are arranged generally on the same side of the trench such that an optical signal passing from the input waveguide to the second output waveguide does not completely traverse the trench.

  • Patent number: 6419075
Abstract: The present invention is [referred] directed to a device for aligning glass sheets on a roller conveyor of a annealing lehr. The device comprises a supporting structure. A cylinder-piston assembly is attached to the supporting structure. A retention member is connected to the cylinder-piston assembly for supporting or for releasing an edge of the glass sheet, the retention member having a forward movement for supporting the edge of the glass sheet and a backward movement for releasing the glass sheet. A cylindrical piece is attached to the supporting structure over and above of the-retention member, in order to facilitate the sliding and centering of the glass sheet toward the retention member.

  • Patent number: 6196902
Abstract: An apparatus for finishing the edge of a sheet of glass, which includes a supporting structure with a support base, a stationary vertical structure coupled on the support base, and, an upper supporting arm located in a horizontal position on the vertical stationary structure. A motor is connected at one end of the upper supporting arm. Grinding means are connected to the motor fort finishing or grinding the edge of sheet of glass. A housing for housing the grinding means, which includes a fixed upper section and a removable lower section. A longitudinal groove is made in the housing for the introduction of the edge of the glass sheet to contact with the grinding means in order to finish the edge of the glass sheet. Cooling means are located within the housing for cooling the periphery, lower and upper sections of the grinding means during the finishing of the edge of the glass sheet.
