  • Publication number: 20150253314
Abstract: Cystatin C (CysC) and Galectin 3 (Gal-3) are biomarkers for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), wherein elevated levels of one or other or both CysC and Gal-3 indicates a likelihood of PAH. Also provided are methods for identifying candidates for pulmonary arterial hypertension treatment and methods for monitoring therapeutic treatments of pulmonary arterial hypertension by monitoring levels of CysC and Gal-3 in the subject undergoing therapy.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 27, 2013
    Publication date: September 10, 2015
    Applicant: Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc.

  • Publication number: 20150157276
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to methods for treating early and late onset pre-eclampsia, as well as to methods of screening for and predicting the likelihood that a pregnant female patient will develop early and/or late pre-eclampsia, by assessing specific combinations of factors. In the methods of the invention, the a priori risk of developing early preeclampsia may be calculated utilizing coefficients for each of the maternal factors (binary variables), the coefficients being generated utilizing logistic regression analysis. The a posteriori risk of developing early preeclampsia may be calculated utilizing coefficients for each of the patient-specific factors, the coefficients being generated utilizing logistic regression analysis.

  • Publication number: 20110046455
Abstract: A tip of an elongate device is navigated into a particular tissue volume in order to examine the particular tissue volume in a body and part of the tissue volume is analyzed in real-time by way of a biosensor. In at least one embodiment, in the process, either the biosensor can be arranged on the tip of the device or the device includes a catheter, by which a substance to be analyzed is transported out of the tissue volume from the tip to the biosensor arranged at the proximal end of the catheter.

  • Publication number: 20100240970
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention relates to a device, which can be implanted into a patient, for an in vivo measurement. In an embodiment, the device includes a catheter for guiding a sample of the patient town analysis unit in the device. A measurement result is determined in the analysis unit by analyzing the sample with the aid of a reagent. In an embodiment, the device furthermore includes an interchange chamber, with the aid of which the reagent can be removed from the device or can be inserted into the device. The interchange chamber has a connector allowing removal or insertion of the reagent while the device is implanted.
