  • Patent number: 5303703
Abstract: The invention relates to combined neuroepithelial electrode and sample delivery devices which deliver a stimulant to neuroepithelial tissue and measure the bioelectric response of the tissue to the stimulant. Some devices also include an evacuation catheter which removes the stimulant from a subject immediately after stimulation, thereby limiting the locus of stimulated tissue. The invention also relates to methods of using these devices to stimulate and measure the response of neuroepithelial tissue, particularly the neuroepithelial tissue of the human vomeronasal organ.
