  • Patent number: 8467765
Abstract: A method in a mobile device includes receiving an incoming call. An emergency signal, associated with an incoming call, is detected. The emergency signal indicates the incoming call is from an emergency call center. Responsive to detecting the emergency signal, the emergency call is automatically answered, and information identifying the incoming call as an emergency call is displayed on the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 7412225
Abstract: Herein are disclosed an apparatus and method of explicit indication of call from emergency call center. The method includes the steps of forming an emergency signal in relation to the mobile station terminated call; sending the emergency signal to the mobile station on behalf of the emergency call center; and detecting the emergency signal at the mobile station. The apparatus includes emergency signal forming means for forming an emergency signal in relation to the mobile station terminated call; emergency signal sending means for sending said emergency signal to the mobile station on behalf of the emergency call center; and emergency signal detecting means for detecting said emergency signal at the mobile station. A global emergency call information record is disclosed for use in cdma2000 type networks and the like. The apparatus and method may apply to other networks.

  • Patent number: 7020480
Abstract: A system and method of transmitting instant messages to a mobile communication device via a wireless data communication network is provided. Presence information for a plurality of instant message sources is detected at an instant messaging server that couples the instant message sources to the wireless data communication network. In addition, presence information of the mobile communication device is detected at the instant messaging server. The presence information of the mobile communication device is then compared with the presence information of the instant message sources and at least one of the instant message sources is then enabled to transmit an instant message to the mobile communication device. The presence information may be supplemented to include extended state information of the mobile communication device, which is matched against a plurality of service offerings by the instant messaging server to determine which service may transmit an instant message to the mobile communication device.
