    Abstract: Techniques for guaranteeing payment to a seller of a commodity purchased by a buyer are described. A selection of a sales proposal for purchasing the commodity from the seller is received. The sales proposal specifies the conditions under which the commodity will be delivered to the buyer. The seller is then notified that the sales proposal has been selected by the buyer, and a payment agreement is provided to the seller. The payment agreement specifies financial terms under which a financial institution guarantees payment to the seller on behalf of the buyer for future deliveries of the commodity in accordance with the sales proposal.
