  • Publication number: 20060132527
Abstract: A card for testing print heads includes a first layer having a first height and longitudinal length and a second layer located on top of the first layer having a second height and longitudinal length smaller than the first length. Also, a method of determining ink drop velocity including providing such a card, and printing a line including a plurality of dots thereon. A first of the dots is located on the first layer and a second of the dots is located on the second layer. Finally, the method includes determining a first relative distance between the first and second of the dots along the print direction, determining a second relative distance between the top surfaces of the first and second layers, and calculating the ink drop velocity as follows: V*(RD1/RD2), wherein V is the print velocity, D1 is the first relative distance, and D2 is the second relative distance.

  • Publication number: 20060087526
Abstract: Methods and systems to monitor the operation of ink jet print heads that are easy to implement and inexpensive are provided. The print head is positioned over an array of wires. The array of wires is heated, and the print head is controlled to eject droplets of ink from each nozzle of the print head onto a corresponding wire. Nozzles that are operating properly will eject droplets of ink, which will lower the temperature of the wire, thereby causing a change in resistance of the wire. Nozzles that are not operating properly will not eject droplets of ink, and therefore the resistance of the corresponding wires will remain constant. The resistance of each wire is monitored, and if a change in resistance in a wire is not detected, indicating that the ink droplets were not ejected onto that wire, a signal is generated that indicates a non-operational nozzle.

  • Publication number: 20060021847
Abstract: A non-powered roller conveyor for conveying parts along a conveyor path includes a downwardly sloped conveyor support frame with a plurality of rollers rotatably mounted along the frame. The rollers comprise a length of prefabricated roller top conveyor chain mounted along a top surface of the conveyor frame. The conveyor chain includes a plurality of links connected together by pivotal connectors that permit sideways articulation of the links with respect to each other. Transverse rows of rollers are rotatably mounted on the links to permit products to roll along the conveyor. The rollers are easily replaceable when necessary. The conveyor follows a downwardly extending spiral path comprising a series of inclined straight sections interconnected by inclined bend sections. Both the straight and bend sections are inclined so that parts roll along the conveyor path under the influence of gravity.

  • Patent number: 6981158
Abstract: A system and method for performing source path isolation in a network. The system comprises an intrusion detection system (IDS), a source path isolation server (SS1) and at least one router configured to operate as a source path isolation router (SR1) operating within an autonomous system. When IDS detects a malicious packet, a message is sent to SS1. SS1 in turn generates a query message (QM) containing at least a portion of the malicious packet. Then, QM is sent to participating routers located one hop away. SR1 uses the query message to determine if it has observed the malicious packet by comparing it with locally stored information about packets having passed through SR1. SR1 sends a reply to SS1, and SS1 uses the reply to identify the ingress point into the network of the malicious packet.

  • Publication number: 20030160193
Abstract: A measuring device for the rolling and lathing parameters of railway wheels (1) permitting the viewing of both sides of the flange and the rolling band by means of artificial viewing methods, using two laser light sources (2), each one of which projects a line of light along the profile to be measured. A camera (4) simultaneously captures both sides of the illuminated profile (3) with the aid of a two mirror periscope system (5). The periscope design permits simultaneous viewing of both the flange and the rolling band with a single camera. A set of wheel presence sensors (10) activates image capture by the camera. Each captured image is sent to an electronic artificial viewing equipment (6), where the two profile views containing the recorded image are composed resulting in a complete profile. The obtained results are displayed in the electronic equipment itself or in a computer (7).

  • Publication number: 20030103216
Abstract: Device and process for measuring ovalization, buckling, planes and rolling parameters of railway wheels by use of a rolling rail (2) along which the outermost part of the wheel (1) to be measured is made to pass at approximately 10 km/h. Various sensors (7) detect the presence of the wheel in the measuring area, such that they activate the device. A collimated laser beam system (6) projects a solid light beam on the wheel, constantly interfering therewith producing images which are reflected on a screen (4). These images are recorded by a camera (5) and sent to an artificial viewing system (9) where the necessary parameters are calculated, on the basis of which the required measurements are obtained. The results obtained are sent to a computer (10) where the measurement reports are generated.

  • Publication number: 20030039234
Abstract: A wireless data network process and system are provided based on a network with prior network-based authentication of a connected mobile node (MN) and with a network connection to a packet gateway node (PGN). The method and system establish and use an authentication mechanism between the MN and the PGN using the network connection. An encrypted channel is then set up between the MN and the PGN based on authentication established with the authentication mechanism. Configuration data is sent from the PGN to the MN using the encrypted channel. The configuration data may then be used by the MN for communication to and from the MN via the PGN. Any network connected to the PGN may then be used. The authentication mechanism advantageously includes exchanging public keys and then using the public keys to mutually authenticate the MN and PGN.

  • Publication number: 20030031151
Abstract: A wireless data network process and system is provided including a mobile node with a wireless transceiver, a serving GPRS support node (SGPRS) a radio access network and a gateway GPRS including a packet gateway node (PGN) with an internet connection. The PGN acts as a mobile IP home agent (HA) with authentication of a MN handled by the GPRS/UMTS network before the PGN ever sees data traffic to establish a Mobile IP authentication key. An unauthenticated key exchange method such as Diffie-Hellman, the MVQ protocol or its one-pass variant (without certificates), or the Key Exchange Algorithm can be used to establish the shared key. The process may include performing a key exchange between the MN and the PGN via radio waves, the GPRS support node and the connection to establish a shared secret key and to establish an IPsec Security Association (SA) between the MN and the PGN.
