  • Publication number: 20230307209
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for determining a distance from a cut face of an active sample to a target plane, using data acquired from a reference sample. The active and reference samples have congruent structure, allowing reference data to be used as an index. An SEM image of the cut face is compared with the reference data to determine position within the active sample, and thereby the remaining distance to the target plane. The technique can be applied repeatedly between phases of ion beam milling until an endpoint at the target plane is reached. Consistent, accurate endpointing is achieved. The technique is suitable for preparing 5-100 nm thick lamella for TEM analysis of electronic circuits and can be used in a wide range of applications. Variations are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11402963
Abstract: A neighboring panel view is leveraged in a digital medium environment. Initially, a view generation system receives a selection of panels of a three-dimensional (3D) assembled representation of an object, such as to apply digital graphics to the 3D assembled representation. The view generation system also receives a selection of an option to display a neighboring panel view, which is a two-dimensional (2D) flattened view local to the selection. In particular, the neighboring panel view displays an arrangement of the selected panels of the object and their neighboring panels. The view generation system arranges the selected panels in this arrangement as those panels are arranged in the 3D assembled representation. The view generation system also arranges the neighboring panels in the neighboring panel view adjacent to the selected panels with which they are adjacent on the object.

  • Patent number: 11380529
Abstract: Methods and systems for generating high resolution reconstructions of 3D samples imaged using slice and view processes where the electron interaction depth of the imaging beam is greater than slice thicknesses. Data obtained via such slice and view processes is enhanced with a depth blur reducing algorithm, that is configured to reduce depth blur caused by portions of the first data and second data that are resultant from electron interactions outside the first layer and second layer, respectively, to create enhanced first data and second enhanced data. A high-resolution 3D reconstruction of the sample is then generated using the enhanced first data and the enhanced second data. In some embodiments, the depth blur reducing algorithm may be selected from a set of such algorithms that have been individually configured for certain microscope conditions, sample conditions, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 11282670
Abstract: Methods and systems include acquiring instances of data relating to multiple layers of a sample obtained via slice and view imaging where the electron interaction depth of the charged particle beam during each irradiation of the sample is larger than the thickness of the first layer and/or the thickness of the second layer. A simulated model is then accessed that identifies a plurality of yield values that identify expected portions/ratios of detected emissions that are expected to be generated by material in corresponding layers/depths of the sample. The yield values are used to segregate the instances of data into component portions based on the particular layer of the sample in which the structures expected to have generated the associated emissions are located. The component portions are then used to create reconstructions of individual layers and/or 3D reconstructions of the sample with reduced depth blur.

  • Patent number: 11113882
Abstract: A user selects a set of photographs from a trip through an environment that he or she desires to present to other people. A collection of photographs, including the set of photographs captured during the trip optionally augmented with additional photographs obtained from another collection, are combined with a terrain model (e.g., a digital elevation model) to extract information regarding the geographic location of each of the photographs within the environment. The collection of photographs are analyzed, considering their geolocation information as well as the photograph content to register the photographs relative to one another. This information for the photographs is compared to the terrain model in order to accurately position the viewpoint for each photograph within the environment. A presentation of the selected photographs within the environment is generated that displays both the selected photographs and synthetic data filled in beyond the edges of the selected photographs.

  • Patent number: 10176624
Abstract: Techniques for illumination-guided example-based stylization of 3D renderings are described. In implementations, a source image and a target image are obtained, where each image includes a multi-channel image having at least a style channel and multiple light path expression (LPE) channels having light propagation information. Then, the style channel of the target image is synthesized to mimic a stylization of individual illumination effects from the style channel of the source image. As part of the synthesizing, the light propagation information is applied as guidance for synthesis of the style channel of the target image. Based on the guidance, the stylization of individual illumination effects from the style channel of the source image is transferred to the style channel of the target image. Based on the transfer, the style channel of the target image is then generated for display of the target image via a display device.

  • Patent number: 10019817
Abstract: Example-based edge-aware directional texture painting techniques are described. Inputs are received that define a target direction field and a plurality of edges as part of a target shape mask. A texture is synthesized from a source image by the computing device to be applied to the set of pixels of the target mask using a source shape mask and a source direction field. The source shape mask defines a plurality of edges of the source mask such that the synthesized texture applied to the plurality of edges of the target shape mask correspond to respective ones of the plurality of edges of the source shape mask. The source direction field is taken from the source image such that the synthesized texture applied to the target direction field corresponds to the source direction field. The pixels in the user interface are painted by the computing device using the synthesized texture.

  • Patent number: 9905054
Abstract: Techniques for controlling patch-usage in image synthesis are described. In implementations, a curve is fitted to a set of sorted matching errors that correspond to potential source-to-target patch assignments between a source image and a target image. Then, an error budget is determined using the curve. In an example, the error budget is usable to identify feasible patch assignments from the potential source-to-target patch assignments. Using the error budget along with uniform patch-usage enforcement, source patches from the source image are assigned to target patches in the target image. Then, at least one of the assigned source patches is assigned to an additional target patch based on the error budget. Subsequently, an image is synthesized based on the source patches assigned to the target patches.
