    Abstract: Optimal degree of parallelism (DOP) can improve query execution performance. An execution plan to execute the query may be generated, the execution plan comprising a plurality of operators and links. The execution plan may be decomposed into a plurality of sequences of connected operators of the plurality of operators. For each sequence, a set of input values may be determined, and a per-sequence optimal DOP value and a per-sequence minimum DOP value may be generated based on the set of input values for the respective sequence.
