  • Patent number: 9084065
Abstract: The method for operating a hearing system comprises the steps of a) requesting (300) said hearing system to execute a functionality; and b) deciding (400) whether or not to execute the requested functionality. It preferably comprises the steps of c) checking (440) the current availability of the requested functionality; wherein the decision of step b) depends on the so-obtained current availability of the requested functionality, and d) executing the requested functionality, only if the requested functionality is currently available in said hearing system. The hearing system comprises at least one decision unit adapted to deciding whether or not to execute functionalities the hearing system is requested to execute. The invention can make it possible to form hearing systems from a wide range of devices.

  • Patent number: 8792660
Abstract: A hearing system with an analogue control element including a selector for precise and reliable user selection of desired predefined settings. The selecting range of the analogue control element is partitioned into segments, each identified by an identification digit. At least two successive segments define a section. Each section represents a particular setting of the hearing system and is identified by a section digit. The hearing system stores the identification digit and the section digit in the non volatile memory according to the position of the selector. The stored identification digit and section digit are controlled by the signal processing unit and are only modified when the position of the selector is moved over at least two successive segments of the selecting range.

  • Publication number: 20120201407
Abstract: A hearing system is described comprising a hearing device with a signal processing unit and at least one analogue control element (5) with a selector (6) with a delimited selecting range for selecting at least one particular setting of the hearing system. Each setting controls one or multiple parameters of the hearing device (1), and the analogue control element (5) is operatively connected to the signal processing unit. Furthermore, the selecting range of the analogue control element (5) is partitioned into discrete segments, each identified by a distinctive identification digit, and at least two successive segments define a section (Pos 1, . . . , Pos 4), each section is identified by a distinctive section digit; wherein each section (Pos 1, . . . , Pos 4) represents a particular setting of the hearing system.

  • Publication number: 20100293227
Abstract: The method for operating a hearing system (1) comprises using a network identifier for identifying messages (9) within a network formed by devices (11, 12, 13, 14) of said hearing system (1). Through this, an improved message management can be achieved. Typically, the network identifier will be used for marking messages (9) as messages (9) within the network (10) and for recognizing messages (9) as messages (9) within the network (10). A device (11; 12; 13; 14) of a hearing system (1) is configured to participate in a network (10), comprises a storage unit (4) in which a network identifier is stored, and is configured to use said network identifier for identifying messages (9) within said network. Messages (9) in the network can comprise, in addition to the network identifier, complementing data, wherein the treatment of further contents of a received message depends on the result of an evaluation of the complementing data.

  • Publication number: 20100208922
Abstract: The hearing system (1) is adapted to establishing a communication network (10) between devices (11, 12, 13, 14) of said hearing system (1). It is characterized by a main channel of said communication network (10), which uses at least a portion of the transmission capacity of said communication network, and which is shared between said devices. Said sharing is managed jointly by said devices using a control channel. There is no centralized decision, but a distributed decision. Preferably, said main channel and said control channel are time-multiplexed.

  • Publication number: 20070239294
Abstract: The method for operating a hearing instrument (100) having audio feedback capability, comprises the steps of retrieving coded audio data from a storage element (9) of the hearing instrument (100); decoding (12) the coded audio data, thereby generating a decompressed audio message signal; optionally processing the decompressed audio message signal by a processing unit (4); and outputting the decompressed and optionally processed audio message signal to a user.
