  • Patent number: 8006898
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for testing the authenticity of documents, in particular bank notes, documents of value or security documents, by authenticity criteria. To increase the reliability of authenticity testing of documents, at least two different authenticity classes each with one or more authenticity criteria are provided, the individual authenticity classes differing in at least one authenticity criterion. An authenticity class is selected from the different authenticity classes and the document tested by the authenticity criteria of the selected authenticity class. The document is assigned the selected authenticity class if the document meets the authenticity criteria thereof. This obtains higher reliability of authenticity testing since this method makes it possible to determine those documents that meet higher authenticity requirements, i.e. stricter authenticity criteria, than the other documents and are therefore authentic with higher probability.

  • Patent number: 7997418
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for processing monetary units such as banknotes or coins, in which the monetary unit are conveyed from an input compartment in each case to one of a plurality of output compartments as a function of predefined sorting criteria. In order to widen the range of application of banknote sorting machines, a control device for the processing apparatus is provided, which control device is configured to be able to output in each case a predefined number of monetary units of a plurality of different denominations into at least some of the output compartments in order to process these monetary units in an individualized fashion. In comparison to the previously predominantly manually executed individualized processing, the solution according to the invention permits rapid and reliable individualized processing of cash supported by automatic means.

  • Patent number: 7152744
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for processing sheet material, in particular bank notes, papers of value and the like. In the inventive apparatus, an automatic return of sheet material to a second or, generally speaking, further check is provided, which obtains relief for an operator of the apparatus. The relief results from a reduction of the rate of indeterminable cases or the total sheet material to be manually reworked, since any disturbances or faulty operating conditions existing at the time of a first or, generally speaking, prior check of sheet material normally no longer exist, or exist in a changed form, at the time of a second or, generally speaking, further check of the sheet material. The correct check and assignment of the sheet material is thus possible in the second or, generally speaking, further check.

  • Patent number: 6917040
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recognizing foreign material (2), in particular adhesive objects, glue or joints, on or in bank notes (1), including detecting the thermal radiation (5) emanating from at least a partial area of the bank note (1): and recognizing foreign material (2) located on the bank note (1) on the basis of the detected thermal radiation (5). The invention is especially suitable for recognizing adhesive objects, in particular adhesive tape and joints, on bank notes since areas of a bank note with adhesive tape or joints differ very distinctly in their thermal properties from other areas of the bank note without adhesive tape.
