The electrical component has a plurality of settings. The switch mechanism includes a switch and a rotatable adjustment member. The switch has multiple positions and includes a sliding actuator. Each position corresponds to a respective setting for the electrical component. The rotatable adjustment member includes a contact surface operatively coupled with the sliding actuator such that rotational movement of the rotational adjustment member results in translational movement of the sliding actuator.

Abstract: A hair styling tool or curling iron includes a handle portion and a styling portion. The handle portion houses a torsion spring. The styling portion includes a hair engaging member adapted to be biased toward the styling portion by the torsion spring. A spring door is releasably and/or removably connected to the handle portion and is configured to cover and at least partially secure the torsion spring within the handle portion. The torsion spring is not mechanically connected to the handle portion so that releasing and/or removing of the spring door from the handle portion allows for removal and replacement of the torsion spring.

In one embodiment, the directional gas flow of the non-heated air is configured to provide the non-heated gas flow to a user's hair at the location at which the user's hair exits engagement with the hair appliance. In one embodiment a compressed gas source is integrated with a hand held hair appliance. In another embodiment, a hair appliance system is provided in which the compressed gas source is external to a hand held hair appliance.
