Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for radio access technology (RAT) management for user terminals with a connection on at least one RAT. There is disclosed a method for controlling a selection of a RAT for traffic flow of a user terminal comprising the steps of receiving information on a user plane of a serving RAT; using the received information to determine a characteristic indicative of an expected quality for a connection between the user terminal and a candidate cell of a candidate RAT; comparing the user terminal's connection quality on a serving cell of the serving RAT to the characteristic indicative of the expected quality for a connection between the user terminal and the candidate cell of the candidate RAT; and determining on the basis of the comparison whether the user terminal should change its traffic flow to the candidate cell of the candidate RAT or maintain its traffic flow on the serving cell of the serving RAT.
