Various embodiments render digital image content based on a graphics context that corresponds to an initial image rendering format. During the rendering process a determination is made that indicates the quality of the digital image content exceeds the graphics context's initial capabilities. The various embodiments can select an updated image rendering format based on the quality of the digital image and expand the graphic context's capabilties to correspond with the updated image rendering format.
