  • Patent number: 11345253
Abstract: A power supply device for a vehicle that includes two or more independent power sources, a simple low-power voltage monitor connected to a fast switch device, an electronic control unit (ECU), and a dedicated standby monitor element. Each power source has a separate path to connect to the load(s). That is to say, a primary path connects the primary power source to the one or more loads, and a backup path connects the backup power source to the one or more loads. Furthermore, each path includes a back-to-back blocking element, which prevents a direct connection between the primary power source and the backup power source. At standby, both or all paths are blocked except the standby monitor, ensuring extremely low quiescent current. When the system is ON, the voltage level of the power system is monitored; if the voltage level drops below a threshold level, then the paths are switched.

  • Patent number: 11104300
Abstract: Remote devices have replaced keys as a means to access a secure feature of a vehicle. Remote door locks, starters, climate control, trunk openers, etc., have allowed vehicles to be more welcoming and easier to use. However, such functions often rely on radio frequency transmissions that can merely relay signals coming from an authorized device that may allow a nefarious user to access the vehicle or contents therein. By encoding sequence numbers and timestamps within an exchange, a vehicle may determine that an authorized user is too far away to be granted access to the secure feature, thereby denying access to the nefarious user implementing a relay attack on the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10952243
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to vehicle communication systems, in particular, toward contention resolution on a shared medium in vehicle communication systems. The present disclosure can provide a modified version of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.3 standard to handle physical layer (PHY), and data link layer's (DLL) media access control (MAC) of the wired communication links in the vehicle communication subsystem utilizing a shared medium and half-duplex mode. As a result, the modified MAC and PHY may provide fair access and deterministic latency for shared access to the medium of vehicle communication systems independent of the offered network load.

  • Publication number: 20210006344
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices of the present disclosure are directed to providing seamless fault tolerant clock synchronization utilizing redundant reference clocks in a vehicle communication system. Redundant grandmaster clocks may be synchronized by utilizing clock signals sent between physical layers over a network, and derived clocks of network end devices may be synchronized using messages sent by the grandmaster clocks over the same or separate networks. The primary and backup grandmaster clocks may concurrently transmit synchronization messages to the network end devices. In this way, the grandmaster clocks may be synchronized to clock signals, and the network end devices may derive local clocks based on one, some, or all of the received messages transmitted over a network by the grandmaster clocks.

  • Patent number: 6484018
Abstract: A method and apparatus for defining and generating a digital waveform such as used for the local oscillator for a down converter in a receiver is disclosed. The method and apparatus is particularly useful where the digital waveform is not an integer submultiple of a reference signal. A plurality of different digital waveforms meeting the timing criteria but having different combinations of segments needed to meet the timing criteria are generated. Each of the digital waveforms so generated are tested in, for instance, a receiver to enable the selection of the best combination of segments.

  • Patent number: 6414968
Abstract: A dual channel transceiver which operates at two different frequencies and which may be used in a network using older transceivers operating at a single frequency is disclosed. A pilot tone is transmitted by the transceiver when it is using the second channel to cause the older transfers to remain synchronized and thereby prevent them from transmitting data which would otherwise interfere with the data on the second channel. The relative magnitude of the signals on both channels is compared to prevent the detection of cross-talk on the second channel as data.

  • Patent number: 6295625
Abstract: A “hint” signal is developed which points to suspected erroneous bits in received data by examining anomalies in the signal. More particularly, a delta phase pointer which quantifies one of the anomalies is used. The realigning of an IQ pointer provides an additional anomaly which is prioritized along with the delta phase pointer. The particular error correcting code used for the power line application provides seven check bits for a data byte and permits the correction of up to two errors. A third error is correctable through use of the hint signal and a parity bit.
