  • Patent number: 7488230
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a display panel is described. A substrate is provided. A wall structure is formed on the substrate to define several microcups. A display medium is filled into the microcups. Thereafter, a sealing layer is formed over the microcups filled with the display medium, wherein the sealing layer includes a first material that is immiscible with the display medium and a second material that is miscible with the display medium. A treatment process is performed such that the first material is solidified to form a solidifying layer while the second material miscible in the display medium undergoes a polymerization induced phase separation reaction so as to precipitate in the display medium.

  • Publication number: 20070268446
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to liquid crystal devices and methods for forming the same. More particularly, the present invention relates to liquid crystal devices easy to be fabricated. Such liquid crystal devices exhibit excellent display characteristics such as a high contrast with a simple structure. The liquid crystal liquid crystal device includes a plurality of encapsulated liquid crystal composite filled in between substrates. In particular, the liquid crystal composite comprises liquid crystal molecules and fine-particles, and is optically isotropic when the voltage applied to the electrode layer is lower than a threshold value and undergoes optical transition due to change in the arrangement of the liquid crystal molecules when the applied voltage is equal to or higher than the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 7215073
Abstract: The present invention discloses an active organic light emitting diode (AOLED) display structure. A color filter and thin film transistor organic light emitting diode (TFT-OLED) are incorporated on one substrate of the AOLED. Moreover, a Indium Tin Oxide(ITO)layer of the AOLED is deposited with a black matrix layer so as to lower light leakage effect and increase the contrast and color purity level in between pixels of the display. By adopting such technology, a flat panel display having large area, high resolution and low product cost is accordingly implemented.

  • Patent number: 6912038
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for manufacturing liquid crystal display (LCD) device by utilizing photopolymer. A first photopolymer layer is coated on the support substrate and the substrate having a buffer layer is treated by photopolymerization. A substrate is treated by processes for forming an electrode layer, an alignment layer and projections as required by general LCD manufacturing. A second photopolymer layer is coated on the substrate having a plurality electrode patterns, an alignment layer and projections. Mask exposure is applied to the substrate and the photopolymer forms a polymer wall. Alternatively molding can be applied to the substrate along with linear ultra violet exposure. The photopolymer layer is hardened by such process and forms a polymer wall with alignment. The cavities in the polymer wall are filled with mixture of liquid crystal and small amount of photopolymer.
