Patent number: 9278164Abstract: A negative pressure wound therapy system creates a negative pressure environment in the opening of a wound-dressing unit and a positive pressure environment in the collecting bag. Then a positive pressure detecting procedure is proceeded in the positive pressure environment and a negative pressure detecting procedure is proceeded in the negative pressure environment. The detecting results are sent to determine whether a micro pump is stopped.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2013Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: APEX MEDICAL CORP.Inventors: Nan-Kuang Yao, Jhy-Wen Wu, Luo-Hwa Miau, Jen-Chien Chien, Li-Ling Li

Patent number: 9095644Abstract: A fluid collector has a container, a T-tube, a first screw unit and a second screw unit. The T-tube is connected to the container and has a main pipe and a branch pipe. The first screw unit is mounted in an outlet end of the main pipe. The second screw unit is mounted in a connecting end of the branch pipe, which is connected to the main pipe. The branch pipe has a detecting opening far from the connecting end and connects to a detecting device. By changing the length of the first and second screw units, different detecting values of the pressure are adjusted according to containers with different capacities. Moreover, with the flowing resistance resulting from the first and second screw units, different pressure variations are performed when liquid or air passes through the T-tube. Therefore, massive hemorrhage is clearly identified to keep the patient safe.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2012Date of Patent: August 4, 2015Assignee: APEX MEDICAL CORP.Inventors: Nan-Kuang Yao, Jhy-Wen Wu, Luo-Hwa Miau, Jen-Chien Chien, Shi-Fu Chen, Li-Ling Li

Publication number: 20130317463Abstract: A negative pressure wound therapy system has a buffering unit connected between an actuator and a wound dressing. The buffering unit has similar physical condition with the wound, and consumes its negative pressure to compensate for the negative pressure loss in the wound to resist the pressure rise in the wound during slight leakage. The buffering unit also keeps the actuator from directly operating on the wound to reduce the pain of the patient while lowering the pressure in the wound.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2012Publication date: November 28, 2013Applicant: APEX MEDICAL CORP.Inventors: Nan-Kuang YAO, Luo-Hwa MIAU, Jhy-Wen WU, Jen-Chien CHIEN, Shi-Fu CHEN, Li-Ling LI

Patent number: 8303555Abstract: A collector for a negative pressure wound therapy system has a soft collecting bag with a gas-permeable unit and a liquid absorber. The collecting bag is connected to a wound-dressing unit via an inlet connecting set and is connected to a sensor assembly via a detecting connecting set. With the soft collecting bag, the collector occupies less volume. By the gas-permeable unit and the liquid absorber, the liquid and gas entering into the collecting bag quickly isolate. Moreover, multiple collectors connect in series to form a collector combination to reduce the frequency to replace the collector combination so that a longer usage time of the collector combination is available.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2010Date of Patent: November 6, 2012Assignee: Apex Medical Corp.Inventors: Luo-Hwa Miau, Jhy-Wen Wu, Jen-Chien Chien, Li-Ling Li, Nan-Kuang Yao

Patent number: 8148596Abstract: A wound treatment apparatus is disclosed, which comprises: a first portion, a second portion and a porous matrix. In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the first portion, being an adhesive film, is formed with at least a first hole; and the second portion, being made of a flexible, water-resistant material, is formed with at least a second hole and at least a third hole in a manner that the at least one second hole and the at least one third hole are capable of communicating with each other and thus causes an accommodation space to be formed inside the second portion while the at least one second hole is arranged at a position corresponding to the at least one first hole as the second portion is connected to the first portion. Moreover, the porous matrix is received inside the accommodation space of the second portion.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2009Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Luo-Hwa Miau, Jhy-Wen Wu, Nan-Kuang Yao

Publication number: 20120053542Abstract: An actuator has a pump head detachably connecting to an external motor. When the actuator extracts the pus and the infection subjects, the fluid only flows through the pump head so that only the pump head needs to be made of biocompatibility materials. Therefore, the manufacturing cost is reduced. Moreover, because the motor is not made of biocompatibility materials, only the pump head needs to be treated as medical wastes so that the disposal cost is reduced. Furthermore, since the pump head is detachable from the motor, the infected pump head is replaced independently to lower the replacement cost.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2010Publication date: March 1, 2012Applicant: APEX MEDICAL CORP.Inventors: Jhy-Wen WU, Nan-Kuang YAO, Luo-Hwa MIAU, Jen-Chien CHIEN, Li-Ling LI
