Patent number: 11943004Abstract: A method for operating a wireline communication device on a wireless communication network includes (a) receiving a downlink radio frequency (RF) electrical signal at a first connector, (b) converting the downlink RF electrical signal to a downlink access signal having a format that is compatible with the wireline communication device, and (c) providing the downlink access signal to a second connector for transporting to the wireline communication device. A method for extending a wireline communication network includes (a) receiving a downlink wireline signal at a node of the wireline communication network, (b) converting the downlink wireline signal to a downlink RF electrical signal, and (c) converting the downlink RF electrical signal to a downlink wireless signal, for transmission to one or more communication devices which are not physically connected to the wireline communication network.Type: GrantFiled: July 4, 2022Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Daryl William Malas, George J. Kakatsakis, Belal Hamzeh, Luis Alberto Campos, Eric Winkelman, Mario Di Dio, Luther E. Smith

Patent number: 11937167Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices disclosed herein contemplate client updates to traffic filter tables that control delivery of network traffic from an access point to the client over a multi channel wireless network. The client may update the traffic filter table whenever: (i) an application on the client initiates the request; (ii) an application matching a secondary channel requirement in a look-up table is opened or closed; (iii) data characteristics matching the secondary channel requirement in the look-up table are detected or removed; (iv) data usage of the client meets or exceeds a predetermined threshold; (v) data usage of the client falls below a predetermined threshold; and/or (vi) a specified period of time has passed.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Luther E. Smith, Jonathan Ray Dennis, Aaron Quinto

Patent number: 11904439Abstract: A torque sleeve for a connector includes a slip ring, a torque ring, a torque spring, and an outer shell. The slip ring includes at least one axial movement inhibiting structure, and a plurality of first teeth having a first sawtooth pattern disposed in an axial direction of the torque sleeve. The torque ring includes at least one radial movement inhibiting structure, and a plurality of second teeth having a second sawtooth pattern disposed in an axial direction of the torque sleeve facing the plurality of first teeth. The torque spring is configured to apply a spring force against the torque ring to encourage movement of the torque ring toward the slip ring. The outer shell is configured to house the slip ring, the torque ring, and the torque spring within the torque sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2021Date of Patent: February 20, 2024Assignee: CABLE TELEVISION LABORATORIES, INC.Inventors: Luther E. Smith, Aaron Quinto, Derek Matthews

Patent number: 11757774Abstract: Systems and methods implement multi-channel communication by remapping Ethernet frames. An Ethernet frame is captured leaving a first bridge of an Ethernet switch. A destination address of the Ethernet frame is matched to a remap rule and to a filter defined for the remap rule. The destination address of the Ethernet frame is updated based upon the remap rule, and the Ethernet frame is output to an Ethernet port corresponding to the updated destination address of the Ethernet frame. The remap rule and the filter allow the Ethernet switch to route traffic at an OSI model layer-4 level.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2022Date of Patent: September 12, 2023Assignee: Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Luther E. Smith, Jonathan Ray Dennis, Aaron Quinto

Patent number: 11641287Abstract: A local communication network (LCN) is contemplated. The LCN may be established within an existing network by leveraging network capabilities in order to facilitate local communications of the type whereby point-to-point (P-to-P) or other types of messaging and/or signaling may be communicated directly between devices without having to be relayed through a headend, a termination system or other processing entity.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2020Date of Patent: May 2, 2023Assignee: Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Padden, Luther E. Smith, David Daniel Smith, Luis Alberto Campos

Patent number: 11323359Abstract: Multi-channel communication over wired and/or wireless communication mediums is contemplated. The multi-channel communication may be of the type sufficient to facilitate data delivery utilizing two or more channels/paths associated with an access point configured to facilitate communications with a plurality of devices. The multi-channel communications may be controlled to maximize performance through limitations placed on communications permitted over one or more of the channels/paths.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2018Date of Patent: May 3, 2022Assignee: Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: Luther E. Smith
