  • Patent number: 9862018
Abstract: A forming apparatus comprises: a machine bed; a tool holder mounted movably relative to the machine bed; a drive unit connected to the tool holder; a disconnector unit; a machine control for operating the drive unit; and a monitoring device to monitor movements of the tool holder and to activate the disconnector unit. The monitoring unit includes two distance measuring systems that respectively generate first and second position signals at different rates for determining a position of the tool holder relative to the machine bed. At least one radiation beam detector is deactivated in response to a different between the first and second position signals undershooting a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 6919555
Abstract: A guard device for machines such as bending presses, cutting machines, stamping machines or the like, has a first machine part which performs operative movements toward a second machine part. A laser photoelectric detector arrangement is attached to the first machine part and possesses at least one photoelectric detector, whose light beam shines in an adjustable secure distance from this machine part. On interruption of the light beam the operative motion is arrested. An abutment arrangement on the second machine part prevents interruption of the light beam. The photoelectric detector arrangement is either so laterally offset that an interruption of the light beam by the first machine part is excluded during further movement or the photoelectric detector arrangement is arranged on the first machine part in the working path thereof. A switch, able to be worked on reaching the abutting position, deactivates photoelectric detector.

  • Patent number: 6752253
Abstract: A guard device for machines such as pressbrakes, guillotines, stamping machines and the like, in the case of which a first machine part performs working movements toward a second machine part. At least one photoelectric detector, more especially a laser photoelectric detector, has its light beam extending perpendicularly to the direction of working movement and is able to be so positioned between the two machine parts at one thereof that its light beam is at a safety distance from such machine part, such safety distance being able to be set by means of a guard device arranged adjustably on this one machine part, such guard device bearing the at least one photoelectric detector. A halting mechanism is adapted to arrest the working movement on interruption of the light beam and a switching off mechanism serves for switching off the halting mechanism directly prior to interruption of the light beam.

  • Patent number: 6677574
Abstract: A guard means for machines, more particularly pressbrakes, guillotines, stamping machines and the like in the case of which a first machine part (10) performs working movements toward a second machine part (11). Between the machine parts a photoelectric detector arrangement {19 and 20) is positioned and is attached to the moving machine part (10), a stop means being adapted to halt working motion of the moving machine part on interruption of a light beam. A control means for the working movement of the moving machine part (10) reduces the speed immediately prior to light beam interruption by the other machine part (11) to below a threshold limit speed. By means of a speed measuring means (25 and 26) the working speed is measured and the stop means is deactivated below the predetermined threshold limit speed at least partially in order to be able to complete the working movement even in the case of interruption of the light beam by the other machine part (11).
