  • Patent number: 8994506
Abstract: A method of processing RFID data packets at an RFID receiver includes performing channel estimation and data detection on a first received RFID data packet in a single-user reception mode, the first RFID data packet being transmitted by a first RFID tag and in response to detection of a second received RFID data packet from a second RFID tag while the first RFID data packet is being processed in the single-user reception mode, performing channel estimation and data detection in a multi-user reception mode to recover data transmitted from both the first and second RFID tags in a collision-less manner.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 2013
Date of Patent: March 31, 2015
Assignee: The University of British Columbia
    Inventors: Lutz Lampe, Dana Hoffmann

  • Patent number: 4791365
Abstract: Control signals are provided by means of a magnet, a sensor sensitive to magnets, and elements influencing the magnetic field and having a relative movement. A magnetoresistive circuit is placed between one stationary and at least two simultaneously linear or circular movable magnetic flux concentrators having an U- or V-shaped arrangement and being alternately effective in the magnetic circuit. The magnetoresistive circuit is operated in its saturation range, if at least one of the magnetic flux concentrators is effective.

  • Patent number: 4709182
Abstract: A method and apparatus for tightening or loosening screw-type connections, in which the screw bolt is stimulated to oscillate longitudinally, the natural frequency of the bolt is measured and the excitation frequency is made to follow the changing natural frequency during the bolting process with a minimum, necessary excitation energy, so that the screw bolt attains a permanent state of resonance.
