    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first downlink control information (DCI) scheduling a downlink transmission at the UE, where the first DCI includes an indication of a first resource allocation for the downlink transmission. The UE may determine that the downlink transmission includes a downlink data message multiplexed with second DCI. The UE may receive an indication of a second resource allocation for the second DCI. The UE may determine a transport block size (TBS) of the downlink data message based on the first resource allocation for the downlink transmission and the second resource allocation for the second DCI. The UE may then process the downlink transmission based on the TBS of the downlink data message.
