  • Patent number: 9881269
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product manages update operations for a hardware resource. A time, date, and location of the future meeting for which a predetermined feature from a hardware resource has been designated as being required for the future meeting is retrieved from a calendar. A determination is made as to whether or not the predetermined feature of the hardware resource is scheduled for updating during the time and date of the future meeting at said location. A level of detriment that will occur to the future meeting if the future meeting proceeds without the updating of the predetermined feature from the hardware resource is determined. A schedule for updating the hardware resource is then adjusted according to the level of detriment that will occur to the future meeting if the future meeting proceeds without the updating of the predetermined feature from the hardware resource.

  • Patent number: 9871758
Abstract: An approach for facilitating handling of a post to an online social network is provided. In the approach, a first post to an online social network is received. A processor identifies keywords associated with the first post. A processor identifies one or more posts similar to the first post based on at least the identified keywords, wherein the identified one or more posts were previously posted to the online social network. A processor determines one or more posts, of the identified one or more posts, that are within a predetermined threshold of similarity to the first post, based on at least a comparison between the identified one or more posts and the first post. A processor determines at least one recommendation of an action to perform in the online social network based at least on actions associated with the determined posts that are within the predetermined threshold of similarity.

  • Patent number: 9769437
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product enables the sharing of an overlapping area on a shared projection. A system detects an overlapping area on a shared projection, which presents content from a first projection and a second projection. A computing device identifies any redundant resources, which perform the same function as one another, in the first projection and the second projection. A consolidated resource, which provides the same function as the redundant resources, is defined and/or created, and then displayed in the overlapping area.

  • Patent number: 9754051
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for improving the quality of the posts in a social network. A topic of a post to a social network environment is identified using natural language processing. The tense of the post directed to the identified topic is detected using natural language processing. The post is transformed to a suggested post of a second tense directed to the same topic to the user using natural language processing. A suggested message to be posted by the user to the social network in a third tense (e.g., past tense) based on the posts directed to the identified topic in the first and second tenses (e.g., future and present tenses) is generated using natural language processing thereby forming a past/present/future pairing of posts. By forming a past/present/future pairing of posts, a more complete and understandable view of the user's personal history may be obtained.

  • Patent number: 9740440
Abstract: A RAID controller stores data in a hybrid asymmetric mix of a RAID 1 mirror and a parity-based RAID array, wherein a first side of the RAID 1 mirror includes a single data storage device storing an operating system image and a second side of the RAID 1 mirror includes a plurality of data storage devices forming a parity-based RAID array. The RAID controller normally calculates parity using data from both the single data storage device and the plurality of data storage devices. However, in response to a user command, the RAID controller recalculates parity stripes on each of the plurality of data storage devices using a predetermined data pattern for a logical data storage device logically replacing the single data storage device storing the operating system. Accordingly, the same stripe count is maintained and the parity-based RAID array maintains redundancy despite physical separation of the single data storage device.

  • Patent number: 9721143
Abstract: Modifying a visual depiction is provided. A processor identifies a first depiction of a first member of an online social network. The processor determines a first date value representing a date corresponding to the first depiction. The processor determines a relationship between the first member and a second member of the online social network. The processor identifies a second date value based, at least in part, on the relationship between the first member and the second member. The processor determines a region of the first depiction by performing facial recognition based, at least in part, on the first depiction. The processor generates a second depiction by applying one or more operations to the region of the first depiction based, at least in part, on the second date value, wherein the second depiction allows identification of the first member based, at least in part, on the second date value.
