  • Publication number: 20090205415
Abstract: The present invention comprises a device for determining the roll orientation of a body with respect to a local fixed coordinate system or a predetermined reference vector. The device uses a measurement of an external magnetic field, such as the Earth's magnetic field, to determine a roll orientation reference with respect to the field or an uncompensated roll orientation. The uncompensated roll orientation is then adjusted according to a bias angle, such as an angular difference between the external magnetic field and a local fixed coordinate system, to determine the roll orientation of the device with respect to the local fixed coordinate system or a compensated roll angle.

  • Patent number: 6919840
Abstract: A proximity sensor for use with a guidance system of a smart bomb including a ranging radar proximity sensor configured for mounting on a smart bomb and a radome connected to the ranging radar proximity sensor. A laser radiation sensor system is attached to the proximity sensor, which is configured and arranged to detect laser radiation reflected from a target which passes through the radome and output the azimuth and elevation angles to the target to the guidance system.

  • Patent number: 6317074
Abstract: A frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar system having a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) for transmitting a RF signal and a linearizer for linearizing the VCO. The FMCW receives the transmitted RF signal as an input and outputs a signal to a modulator, which successively sweeps the VCO frequency over a defined range. The receiver mixes a return signal with a sample of the transmitted RF signal to derive an IF signal. An adaptive frequency sample clock drives an analog to digital converter to sample and digitize the IF signal, with the clock being derived from the transmitted RF signal.
