  • Patent number: 5816403
Abstract: A sterilizable container which includes an internal flap or a chute which is deployed when the container is opened to provide a sterile passageway through which the stored items may be removed. The flap or chute shields the contents of the container from contact with unsterile areas while the removal is in progress.

  • Patent number: 5435322
Abstract: There is provided an operating room ring stand basin liner/drape which includes a plastic sheet having a tough middle portion formed in the shape of a ring stand basin for lining the inside of the basin and a drape portion attached to the formed portion so that the drape portion covers the legs of the ring stand. The sheet maintains a sterile field around the ring stand and basin and is disposed of after use so that there is no need to sterilize the basin after each use.

  • Patent number: 5379703
Abstract: A folded cover which may readily be transported and placed over the tray of a Mayo stand with little likelihood of becoming prematurely unfolded and being contaminated by contact with a non-sterile surface. The Mayo stand cover includes an elongated flat bag of sterilizable sheet material having an open bottom end and a closed top end, and sized to fit over the tray and a portion of the vertical support of the Mayo stand when unfolded. A cuff is formed over a portion of the bag at the open end. Sterile, gloved hands may be placed into the cuff for transporting the cover and slipping the cover over the Mayo stand. The remaining portion of the bag is folded so as to define a folded material portion adjacent to and outside the cuff. An element is provided for retaining the folded material portion in position prior to use of the bag as a cover and for releasing the folded material portion during use of the bag as a cover.

  • Patent number: 5174306
Abstract: There is provided a method and apparatus for forming a sterile surgical field including a sheet which may have at least one hole therein and a container which may be received in the hole so that the hole is completely sealed. A package for shipment and storage is formed by placing the sheet inside of the container, covering the container with a lid or a second container, and sealing the container ensuring the sterility of the inside of the container. When the package is opened, the sheet is removed from the inside thereof and spread out. The inside surface of the container and the sheet form a sterile field.

  • Patent number: 5109873
Abstract: There is provided an improved surgical drape in the form of a sheet having a fenestration therein through which a surgical procedure is performed. A score line is provided partially through the sheet from one outer edge thereof to the fenestration. The score line does not affect the sheet's capability of providing a sterile field. In procedures where a tube must remain in the site of the surgical procedure, the sheet may be easily severed along the score line by abruptly pulling the sides of the sheet separated by the score line. Thus the sheet may be removed from the patient without the need to cut the sheet with scissors.

  • Patent number: 4873997
Abstract: There is provided an improved surgical drape with a central sheet having at least one hole therein through which surgical procedure is to be performed. A pair of elongated pleats are formed in the central sheet along its outer edge, providing barriers to fluid which runs off from the site of surgical procedure and further directing the fluid along a portion of the central sheet so that fluid is more readily absorbed or contained. A pair of plastic sheets are connected to the central sheet on either side of the pleats.
