  • Patent number: 4549663
Abstract: A trailer frame storage system comprises a plurality of storage units connected closely together in laterally spaced apart condition, each storage unit having a plurality of longitudinally spaced, folding trailer frame support arms each arranged to receive and support a trailer frame for storage in a substantially vertical position in which the trailer frame is rested on its rear end on the ground and its forward end extends upwardly. Each arm is extended, one at a time from rear to front, by movement of the next rearward arm to fully extended position as a trailer frame is rested against it, the frames being transported longitudinally into the storage unit, successively filling the unit from the rear end to the front end. Removal of the stored trailer frames follows the reverse order, and removal of each frame results in it engaging the next adjacent forward arm from which a trailer frame has been removed, to cause said forward arm to be moved toward retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4449882
Abstract: The cargo container carrier of this invention is configured to be removably attachable to the carriage structure of a conventional lift truck. The assembly comprises a vertically extensible main frame secured to the lift truck carriage, the frame pivotally supporting a first pair of tiltable container lifting beam sections for adjustment between an operative position in which they are in longitudinal extension, for engaging an empty cargo container for transport, and an inoperative position in which they extend along the lateral sides of the lift truck in order to allow for increased manueverability of the vehicle while not functioning in the transporting of cargo containers, and for operation of the lift truck in conventional uses and in confined spaces.

  • Patent number: 4437807
Abstract: The wheeled frame remaining after removal therefrom of a detachable cargo container is gripped by clamping mechanism of a carrying unit mounted on a lift truck, then raised above the ground and pivoted from its normal horizontal position to a vertical position for transport to a multiple storage unit. The clamping mechanism is mounted for movement along an elongated boom the inner end of which is mounted on the vertically movable carriage of a lift truck for pivotal movement of the boom between horizontal and vertical positions.

  • Patent number: 4331419
Abstract: A storage structure is provided with a plurality of vertically, horizontally and longitudinally spaced support pads which form a plurality of vertically and horizontally spaced, elongated floors for supporting a plurality of cargo container trailers. The longitudinal passageway between adjacent horizontally separated floors freely receives a pair of vertically telescoping stabilizer masts mounted upon a powered vehicle, the front and rear wheels of one side of which are receivable in a longitudinal vehicle guide at the bottom of the storage structure. The upper ends of the masts are receivable in a longitudinal mast guide at the top of the storage structure, whereby the masts are supported in vertical position. An elevator, movable vertically between the masts and horizontally through the longitudinal passageway, is arranged to pick up a cargo container trailer and elevate it to and lower from a desired one of the floors of the storage structure.

  • Patent number: 4003462
Abstract: Logs to be sorted according to species, grade, length, diameter and a variety of other characteristics and parameters, are delivered one at a time crosswise to the infeed end of an elongated conveyor assembly formed of a plurality of longitudinally aligned, transversely articulated conveyors. A retractable stop is associated with the downstream end of each conveyor for releasable abutment by the logs as they progress along the conveyor assembly. Upon such abutment and subsequent tilting of the conveyor, the log thereon is lowered onto a registering transfer conveyor extending laterally thereof. At the outfeed end of the transfer conveyor the log is directed into a sort rack. When the latter has been filled with a plurality of like logs, they are removed as a group for subsequent processing.
