Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for generating a reflowed document image that fits the width of target display so that original electronic documents can be viewed without the necessity for tedious, horizontal scrolling. By fitting the documents to the width of the target display, the document can be read by simply scrolling in a vertical direction. The size of the text that is displayed on the target display can be varied to allow for easy reading. In addition, users having low vision can increase the size of the text to further aid in reading of the device. The target device can comprise a PDA or a large display for individuals having low vision. The reflowed electronic document is stored as a bit map image so that the original look and feel of the document can be preserved.
