  • Patent number: 7903861
Abstract: A method for classifying tissue density of a breast includes obtaining mammography image data and segmenting the mammography image to identify the region representing the breast tissue. A plurality of regions within the breast tissue region are identified for obtaining image features therefrom. A plurality of image features are computed from the identified plurality of regions. The breast tissue density is classified using the computed plurality of image features.

    Assignee: Carestream Health, Inc.
Inventors: Hui Luo, Lynn M. Fletcher-Heath, Lori L. Barski
  • Patent number: 7729524
Abstract: A method for image quality assessment of a digital radiography system extracts and isolates one or more individual targets from a phantom image, then obtains operator responses by displaying each isolated individual target and recording a corresponding operator response related to image appearance for each isolated individual target. The accumulated operator responses are stored to obtain the image quality assessment.

  • Patent number: 7680311
Abstract: A computerized method to aid in human visual reading of phantom image data for task-based image quality assessment. A digital image is registered to a phantom template to generate a plurality of individual targets. The individual targets are sequentially displayed to a user for visual assessment. A display control adjustment is provided for each of the displayed individual targets. The user then indicates at least one assessment of the displayed individual target, and the assessments for all the plurality of targets is stored for analysis. In one arrangement, the individual targets are randomly rotated prior to being sequentially displayed.

  • Patent number: 7329890
Abstract: A method for scanning and processing computed radiography x-ray images in order to maximize the usage of cassette options. The storage phosphor radiography imaging method of the invention employs a cassette comprising a storage phosphor screen adapted to be exposed to x-rays to store a latent x-ray image in the screen and read using a reader. The method includes the steps of: associating cassette information with the cassette using an identification member affixed to the cassette or storage phosphor screen, the cassette information comprising information relating to characteristics of the cassette relevant to the reading of the screen by the reader; prior to reading the exposed storage phosphor screen to generate a digital image signal, scanning the identification member to obtain the cassette information; and reading the exposed storage phosphor screen in accordance with the cassette information to generate the digital image signal.
