The compositions can include a low pH solvent and amino acids wherein the amino acids are exclusive of at least one naturally occurring amino acid. Also provided are methods of making compositions that include medical food emulsions. Such medical food emulsions are useful in the nutritional support of individuals with inborn errors of protein metabolism.
