Abstract: A modular beam-limiting device for use with an x-ray machine includes a base portion and an attachment portion. The base portion includes at least one magnet. The attachment portion includes at least one magnet. The base portion is adapted to be received on an x-ray tubehead housing. The attachment portion is selectively removably couplable to said base portion. The modular beam-limiting device may further include a magnetic field modulator, which is operable to shape a magnetic field; an insert for configuring a size, a shape, or an orientation of an aperture of the beam-limiting device; or an adapter for increasing an axial length of the beam-limiting device.

Abstract: An integrated digital x-ray diagnostic system and a method for conducting dental radiography which includes optimizing exposure settings based on certain physical parameters of a patient, communicating the operational status of the x-ray generator and the exposure settings directly to the a CCD sensor without radiation sensitive detector elements, and supplying various viewing stations with image data thereby improving dental office workflow. The activation of the sensor and the x-ray source are coordinated so as to avoid pre-integration of charge in the image sensor, and at the same time reduce risk of over-exposure to the patient.

Abstract: An imaging system according to various aspects of the present invention comprises a sensor providing image data to a data processing unit. The data processing unit suitably comprises an interface that may interact with one or more types of devices, such as a network interface and an adaptable interface. The data processing unit may also include an image processing system for storing image data and/or manipulating the image data to enhance images. The data processing unit may also include a display for viewing images relatively quickly following acquisition of the image data.
