  • Patent number: 11859041
Abstract: This disclosure provides new methods for the design and development of ethylene polymerization catalysts, including Group 4 metallocene catalysts such as zirconocenes, which are based on an improved ability to adjust co-monomer incorporation into the polymer. Computational analyses with and without dispersion corrections revealed that designing catalyst scaffolds which induce stabilizing non-covalent dispersion type interactions with incoming ?-olefin co-monomers can be used to modulate co-monomer selectivity into the polyethylene chain. Demonstrated herein is a lack of correlation of computed ??G‡ values against experimental ??G‡ values when the dispersion correction (D3BJ) was disabled, and B3LYP was used in the absence of Grimme's D3 dispersion and Becke-Johnson (BJ) dampening, but a correlation of computed against experimental ??G‡ with B3LYP+D3BJ, which are used to design new catalyst scaffolds.

  • Publication number: 20220225006
Abstract: A wearable electronic device such as an earbud, wristwatch, or other device may be provided with a skin sensor. The skin sensor may use optical measurements to detect the presence of skin adjacent to the electronic device. The sensor may have first and second light-emitting devices such as infrared devices that emit light at respective first and second infrared light wavelengths. Reflected light is monitored by a photodetector. Control circuitry can initiate or pause audio playback or take other actions in response to determining from the reflected light measurements that skin is present. The sensor may have a thin-film interference filter or other optical structure that overlaps the first and second light-emitting devices to narrow the angular spread of light emitted from the skin sensor. This reduces tilt sensitivity and helps enhance skin sensor accuracy.

  • Patent number: 11300501
Abstract: Methods for determining the catalytic activity of an activated chemically-treated solid oxide using a color measurement technique are described, and these methods are integrated into transition metal-based catalyst preparation processes and systems, as well as into olefin polymerization processes and related polymerization reactor systems.

  • Patent number: 11288909
Abstract: A secure ballot collection system is formed of a removable container that may be positioned within a voting machine and used for collecting paper ballots as they are cast. The container itself is capable of being sealed after removal from the voting machine to ensure the security of the paper ballots. The removable container is placed on a raised floor platform that is also positioned within the interior of the voting machine. The platform provides easy access to the interior of the voting machine from a side opening and allows for the ballot container bag to be located at a height where it is relatively straightforward for an election official to place an “empty” container bag at the beginning of the voting process, and also remove a “filled” container bag at some point in time thereafter.

  • Publication number: 20210015204
Abstract: An insole for a shoe can include a top surface, an opposing bottom surface, a rear end and an opposing front end. At least a section of the top surface proximate the rear end can be concave. At least a section of the bottom surface proximate the rear end can be convex. A plurality of spaced-apart holes can extend through the insole from the top surface to the bottom surface. The plurality of spaced-apart holes can be arranged in two rows. A first row of the two rows can be spaced radially inward with respect to a second row of the two rows. Each of the plurality of holes of the first row can have the same size. Each of the plurality of holes of the second row can have the same size.
