  • Publication number: 20060255102
Abstract: A technique for defining a wettable solder joint area for an electronic assembly reduces and/or dispenses with the use of polymer solder masks. According to the technique, a substrate is provided that includes at least one conductive trace. A nickel layer is provided on the conductive trace and gold is selectively applied on the nickel layer in a desired pattern to form a gold layer. An exposed portion of the nickel layer that does not include the gold in the desired pattern is then oxidized. Finally, a solder is applied to the gold layer, with the oxidized nickel layer providing a solder stop and defining a wettable solder joint area.

  • Publication number: 20060234424
Abstract: Substrate shrinkage that occurs during manufacture of an electronic assembly is compensated for by the incorporation of a horizontal line, having a plurality of vertical graduations, across a horizontal portion of a substrate and a vertical line, having a plurality of horizontal graduations, across a vertical portion of the substrate. The substrate is then cured and an amount of substrate shrinkage is determined, based upon a location change in the graduations of the horizontal and vertical lines. In this manner, solder can be properly provided on solder pads of the substrate responsive to the amount of substrate shrinkage. As such, electronic components can be properly mounted to the solder pads of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7004842
Abstract: A compound driveshaft assembly includes a first driveshaft section that is connected through a front stub shaft to an inner race of a constant velocity universal joint. The constant velocity universal joint includes a unitary outer race and splined member having an outer race portion that is disposed about the inner race and a splined portion that extends axially rearwardly from the outer race portion. The unitary outer race and splined member is formed from a single piece of material, not from an assembly of two or more separate components. A plurality of balls provide a driving connection between the outer race portion of the unitary outer race and splined member and the inner race. The splined portion of the unitary outer race and splined member is connected for rotation with a rear stub shaft. To accomplish this, the rear stub shaft includes a splined portion that cooperates with the splined portion of the unitary outer race and splined member.

  • Publication number: 20060034052
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for producing an electronic assembly and an electronic assembly with an integrated cooling system for dissipating heat. The electronic assembly comprises a base; and at least one electrical component attached to the base. The base defines an integrated cooling system having a fluid channel spanning within the base and at least one heat exchanger in heat communication with the fluid channel. The integrated cooling system may further include a pump attached to the base for directing the flow of the fluid within the fluid channel, and a port in fluid communication with the fluid channel for receiving fluid from an external source.

  • Publication number: 20050035845
Abstract: A thick-film resistor component may include a thick film component formed between a thick-film resistor and an electrically conductive sheet, wherein a portion of the sheet is selectively removed to form resistor contacts while exposing a portion of the thick-film component. Electrical terminals to a thick-film resistor may be sized to reduce stress and/or be selectively positioned relative to the resistor to define a desired resistor value. A thick-film resistor may include one or more resistor segments configured to be selectively open-circuited to incrementally adjust the value of the resistor.

  • Publication number: 20020146489
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved container for food and non-food products. The container utilizes a novel delayed release process to overcome polymer odor-emission problems that detract from a packaged product. The novel process utilizes fragrance molecules or microcapsules which have fragrance molecules contained therein, to impart an enhanced fragrance to the product when the container is opened, increasing consumer appeal.

  • Patent number: 5021976
Abstract: A method and system for generating dynamic, interactive visual representations of information structures within a computer which enable humans to efficiently process vast amounts of information. The boundaries of the information system containing the information to be processed are established and a set of mathematical relationships is provided which indicates the degree of correlation between parameters of interest to a user and segments of information contained within the boundaries. A visual display is generated for the user which has a plurality of different iconic representations and visual features corresponding to the parameters defined by the mathematical relationships.
