  • Patent number: 11971645
Abstract: An information handling system peripheral camera ensures privacy with a cover that minimizes distance of a camera module to a front opening of the camera housing. For instance, opposing cover members rotate about geared ends that engage to translate rotation between the members, where the members meet over a camera opening to block capture of visual images and move to opposing sides to expose the camera module. In an alternative embodiment, a rotating shutter arrangement selectively covers the camera for security and also covers a microphone to provide security against unauthorized audible access through the camera. Selective covering and exposing of a camera module, infrared camera, microphone and user presence detection sensor support adaptive security at a camera based upon end user context.

  • Publication number: 20240129608
Abstract: An information handling system cylindrical housing has a front portion rotationally coupled to a rear portion with hooks that engage catches so that power and communication interfaces between the front and rear portion align. An image sensor couples in an image sensor frame in the front portion and a communication board couples in a communication board frame in the rear portion. The front and rear portions detach to ease repair with a replacement image sensor or communication board. A contactless connector disposed in the housing communicates visual image information from the image sensor to the communication board.

  • Publication number: 20240130041
Abstract: An information handling system and/or peripheral device includes a printed circuit board having at least one prepreg substrate coupled to at least one bio-based substrate to support operation of electronic components, such as mouse position sensor and scroll wheel rotation sensor, and having a layer of graphene between the prepreg substrate and the bio-based substrate. At end of life, the bio-based substrate is removed from the prepreg substrate, such as by melting of the biobased material, so that the prepreg substrate can be reused. In one embodiment, the prepreg substrate supports power and ground planes that bio-based substrates couple over so that the prepreg substrate can be reused along with the power and ground planes by coupling updated bio-based substrates over the reused prepreg substrate.

  • Publication number: 20240126340
Abstract: An information handling system coupling device inserts into an opening of first and second portions that overlap to couple the portions together, such as a main housing and hinge, a lid housing and hinge, and a tray disposed in a main housing interior. First and second magnetic elements insert into the opening with like poles aligned to repel each other and provide room to fit a third magnetic element between them having opposing poles to attract the first and second elements into an assembly. Protrusions, such as an I-shape, extend from the assembly into recesses of the opening to engage the coupling device in place within the opening.

  • Publication number: 20240129607
Abstract: An information handling system camera has an extruded aluminum housing that holds an inner frame supporting an image sensor assembled without the use of screws so that the camera readily disassembles to recycle or repair. A planar spring lock holds the camera assembly with flanges that fit into slots of the camera housing to engage the inner frame. The flanges release when a press of the planar spring lock into a recess of the housing biases the flange lip away from a catch of the inner frame.

  • Publication number: 20240126337
Abstract: An information handling system display has a frame with magnets to couple a display panel in place by the magnets interacting with ferromagnetic material at the rear side of the display panel. Contactless connectors coupled to a scalar board in the frame and to the rear side of the display communicate visual information from the scalar board to the display panel for presentation as visual images. The display panel assembles to the frame by magnetic attraction to have the contactless connectors and power interfaces aligned. Repair of the display panel is performed by separating the display panel from the frame magnetic attraction and coupling a replacement display panel in the place of a defective display panel.

  • Patent number: 11922220
Abstract: Embodiments of systems, apparatuses and methods provide enhanced function as a service (FaaS) to users, e.g., computer developers and cloud service providers (CSPs). A computing system configured to provide such enhanced FaaS service include one or more controls architectural subsystems, software and orchestration subsystems, network and storage subsystems, and security subsystems. The computing system executes functions in response to events triggered by the users in an execution environment provided by the architectural subsystems, which represent an abstraction of execution management and shield the users from the burden of managing the execution. The software and orchestration subsystems allocate computing resources for the function execution by intelligently spinning up and down containers for function code with decreased instantiation latency and increased execution scalability while maintaining secured execution.

  • Patent number: 11914796
Abstract: An information handling system keyboard has plural key caps coupled to a frame with a vertical travel having a raised position defined by engagement between a stop of the frame and a key cap extension from the key cap. Larger key caps, such as a space bar, shift and enter key cap, are stabilized by including a balancing bar that maintains the key cap level when depressed and released. Acoustic noise associated with key cap movement and balancing bar rattle is reduced by stabilizing the balancing bar with one or more magnets and/or a shaped cushion to reduce balancing bar rattle.

  • Patent number: 8283156
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for detecting analytes in a medium, and more particularly the present invention relates to an assay based on light diffraction which appears or changes upon the binding of analytes to their specific receptors laid out in patterns on a substrate, which has high sensitivity due to the appropriate choice of such patterns. The present invention is based on the principle that the pattern of recognition elements, which gives rise to the diffraction of the incident light in a diffraction-based assay, can be chosen in such a way so as to facilitate detection, and to enhance the signal to be detected compared to known gratings such as parallel straight lines. In one aspect the substrate itself has a surface topography designed to enhance the diffraction pattern signals. In another aspect the substrate is a diffractive optic element having the analyte-specific receptors affixed to the optic element.
