  • Publication number: 20100010127
Abstract: The present invention is related with bioplasticizers or primary oleochemical plasticizers and the improved process for obtaining thereof. It refers primarily to epoxydized oleochemical plasticizers produced from vegetable oils, as substitute of traditional petrochemical plasticizers. The process starts with the epoxydized product of natural oils, such as sunflower, linseed, Jatropha curcas, soybean, etc., which are transesterified with an alcohol such as ethylic or methylic, in the presence of a catalyst such as sodium methoxide or sodium hydroxide in order to produce an alkylic esters mixture of the fatty acids that were present in the oil or oil mixture used as raw material in the epoxydized oil production.

  • Patent number: 6548609
Abstract: The present invention is related to an improved process for obtaining oleochemical polyols from oils, principally of a vegetable origin. The polyols obtained consist of a mixture of ethers, esters, primary and secondary alcohols and have the characteristic of being self-compatible with the new blowing agents: hydrochlorofluorocarbons, HCFC's, hydrofluorocarbons, HFC's and hydrocarbons, HC's of a low molecular weight and low boiling point. The process of this invention is characterized because it uses Lewis type acids in such a way that they do not form precipitates and therefore it is not necessary to remove precipitates from the polyol. The process of the present invention makes it possible to obtain polyols with high functionality and controlled reactivity. These characteristics render the product suitable for use as a raw material in the production process of rigid foams, such as polyurethane for spraying, refrigeration and imitation wood, coatings, among others.

  • Patent number: 5948934
Abstract: A process is disclosed for recycling of polyester used in the fabrication of molded plastic goods, such as films, carbonated beverage bottles and particularly waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) bottle grade, manufacturing residues and other manufactured articles. The process comprises the alcoholysis of washed or cleaned, crushed or grinded PET in one step of reaction, with alcohols containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms in their molecule, in an autoclave reactor capable to support pressures of about 10 MPa (100 Kg/cm.sup.2 gage) and operating temperatures in the range of 10 to 300.degree. C.; followed by one or several steps of reaction product purification such as crystallization and/or centrifugation and/or distillation. The alcoholysis reaction product is a dialkyl aromatic ester (DAAE), which is recovered by filtration or centrifugation and depending on the alcohol used in the process the DAAE obtained are several industrial products such as dimethyl terephthalate, dibutyl terephthalate, etc.
