  • Publication number: 20230034762
Abstract: Embodiments presented herein disclose techniques for providing an autonomous vehicle caravanning system (AVCS) allowing for continuous wireless charging between vehicles thereof. The AVCS includes a pilot generator vehicle and one or more freight vehicles interconnected between one another without a mechanical connect. Further, the AVCS may also include one or more generator vehicles interspersed in various positions of the AVCS to provide wireless charging to vehicles therein. Passenger vehicles may be added to the caravan to receive wireless charging from the generator vehicles of the AVCS.

  • Patent number: 9920689
Abstract: A hybrid propulsion system includes a wave rotor combustion engine operating in parallel with an electrical motor-generator element. The motor-generator element is coupled to the turbine shaft to selectively drive or be driven by the turbine shaft. In one mode of operation, the motor of the motor generator element is powered by a battery to provide rotational energy to the turbine shaft. In another mode of operation, the wave rotor combustion engine drives the generator to recharge the battery. The wave rotor combustion engine may be further directly coupled to auxiliary components without a gearbox to drive the components at substantially the same speed as the turbine shaft. The turbine rotor of the combustion engine includes a plurality of chambers defined by circumferentially spaced curved vanes that improves specific fuel consumption for the engine.

  • Patent number: 5894719
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cold gas reinjection in through-flow and reverse-flow wave rotors having a plurality of channels formed around a periphery thereof. A first port injects a supply of cool air into the channels. A second port allows the supply of cool air to exit the channels and flow to a combustor. A third port injects a supply of hot gas from the combustor into the channels. A fourth port allows the supply of hot gas to exit the channels and flow to a turbine. A diverting port and a reinjection port are connected to the second and third ports, respectively. The diverting port diverts a portion of the cool air exiting through the second port as reinjection air. The diverting port is fluidly connected to the reinjection port which reinjects the reinjection air back into the channels. The reinjection air evacuates the channels of the hot gas resident therein and cools the channel walls, a pair of end walls of the rotor, ducts communicating with the rotor and subsequent downstream components.
