  • Publication number: 20070238951
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus are provided through which in some embodiments an integrated oncology diagnostic workflow system supports both multi-phase and multi-modality image acquisition and processing.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 16, 2006
    Publication date: October 11, 2007
    Applicant: General Electric Company
Inventors: Lehel M. Ferenczi, Marta Fidrich
  • Publication number: 20070189589
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus are provided through which in some embodiments, a structure manager explicitly creates a container of graphical objects of anatomical regions by adding a structure, or the structure manager implicitly creates graphical objects of a group of anatomical regions through an organ segmentation process.

  • Publication number: 20070116338
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a method for segmenting biological structure including: identifying at least one seed point associated with a radiographic image, wherein the radiographic image includes one or more organs of sight, the at least one seed point positioned to correspond to an interior region of at least one of the one or more organs of sight; and automatically segmenting at least one of the one or more organs of sight based at least in part on the at least one seed point. In an embodiment, the at least one of the one or more organs of sight includes at least one eyeball. In an embodiment, automatically segmenting the at least one eyeball further includes: identifying a center point of the eyeball; locating a sphere having a predefined radius at the center point; adjusting the sphere to substantially conform to processed data along an expected surface of the eyeball.

  • Publication number: 20070116334
Abstract: A system and method for segmenting and editing anatomical objects from medical images is disclosed. The system may be a medical diagnostic imaging system. A computer unit may execute computer software for segmenting anatomical objects from medical images. The computer software may extract an anatomical object from planar curves. Additionally, the computer software may correct the shape of an existing three-dimensional anatomical object from planar curves. The planar curves may be orthogonal to each other. A user may contour of an anatomical object on a plurality of slices, such as an axial slice a sagittal slice, a coronal slice, or some combination thereof. The contour may be drawn using a tracing pen on a display unit. The display unit may receive touch screen input from the tracing pen. The display unit may display the three-dimensional segmented anatomical object.

  • Publication number: 20060228009
Abstract: A method for automatically segmenting image data of an object includes selecting a seed, creating an initial surface around the seed, preprocessing the image data, running a deformable surface algorithm on the image data and post processing the image data. Selecting the seed includes at least one of selecting one seed point within the object, selecting two seed points within the object with one seed point being selected at an upper end of the object and the other seed point being selected at a lower end of the object if the object is a first organ, and selecting a curved segment within the object if the object is a second organ.

  • Publication number: 20050276455
Abstract: A system for segmenting an organ in a plurality of images is described. The system includes an imaging system configured to generate a first set of slices showing images of a subject having the organ. The system also includes a controller configured to determine a second set of slices within the first set, where the second set of slices includes the organ and a remaining set of slices within the first set of slices excludes the organ. The controller is also configured to segment the organ from the second set of slices.
