  • Patent number: 11007654
Abstract: An end manipulator for picking packages is provided. An example end manipulator includes a vacuum plate coupled to a machine where the vacuum plate includes a first set of vacuum cups. Further, the end manipulator includes a grasper plate movably coupled to the machine. The grasper plate moves between a retracted position and an extended position. In the retracted position, the grasper plate aligns with the vacuum plate such that the grasper plate abuts the vacuum plate. In the extended position, the grasper plate extends out from the vacuum plate. In some examples, when the grasper plate is in the retracted position, the end manipulator is configured to pick and place a first type of package. Further, in some examples, when the grasper plate is in extended position, the end manipulator is configured to pick and place a second type of package.

  • Publication number: 20180217576
Abstract: Various embodiments are related to processor subsystems of material handling systems performing methods of creating one or more case placement patterns for placement of cases on a pallet by a palletizer. A human-machine interface (HMI) is executed by the processor subsystem that provides a control affordance to a user, selection, or to provide numerical inputs, for creating or selecting pre-created patterns. The HMI is adapted to provide preview of patterns in real-time, while the patterns are created. In this regard, the preview of patterns corresponds to currently positioned representations of cases on a pallet. The HMI is also adapted to render dynamic changes on the previewed pattern as the cases are positioned on the pallet, in real world, by the palletizer.

  • Publication number: 20180032225
Abstract: A controller of a material handling system performs a method of creating a multidrop pattern of articles for robotic placement in layers on a pallet. A pattern is presented on a user interface of any currently positioned representations of articles on a pallet. A control affordance for inputting drag'n'drop and numeric inputs is presented on the user interface for robotic control operations to perform a multidrop of the more than one article in an end effector of a robotic arm for placement of the more than one article. User inputs are received that indicate placement position of a first subset of the more than one article. User inputs are received that indicate placement position of a second subset, which is mutually exclusive of the first subset, of the more than one article. The user inputs are converted into a place sequence of robotic control operations to perform a multidrop of the articles by the robotic arm.
