  • Patent number: 8454997
Abstract: A solid pharmaceutical composition for parenteral administration having an inner matrix containing at least one therapeutic agent, and a biodegradable, and water-impermeable coating covering part of the surface of said composition. The inner matrix disintegrates upon contact with animal tissue or tissue fluids. By providing a disintegratable and/or soluble inner matrix comprising the drug with a water-impermeable coating covering part of the surface of said composition, the rate of release of the drug can be controlled. The specific rate of release can be controlled by carefully designing the part of the surface which is not covered.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 18, 2002
Date of Patent: June 4, 2013
    Assignee: Novo Nordisk A/S
Inventors: Henrik Egesborg Hansen, Thomas Buch-Rasmussen, Mads Christian Sabra
  • Patent number: 8221344
Abstract: An apparatus for insertion of a medicine peg (3) into the skin (4) has a barrel (2) wherein the medicine peg (2) is stored and in which a plunger (8) behind said peg (2) can be moved to press the peg out through an end of the barrel (2) pressed against the skin (4) where it is intended to insert the peg (3), The plunger (8) is a part of a flexible rod construction (6, 7, 8) which can be passed from a first non rectilinear constellation, by which the plunger (8) is withdrawn in the barrel (2) to a position leaving space for the medicine peg (3) in front of the plunger (8), to a rectilinear constellation by which the plunger (8) projects from the end of the barrel (2) and further to a new non rectilinear position in which the end of the plunger (8) is withdrawn in the barrel (2).

  • Patent number: 8021684
Abstract: The present invention relates to a haemostatic composition comprising a biologically absorbable material and hyaluronic acid or a derivative thereof, methods of producing such compositions and the use of these compositions. In particular the method of producing said haemostatic composition comprises treating it with dry heat at a temperature between 110-200° C.

  • Publication number: 20040063167
Abstract: The present invention pertains to the minimisation of calibration problems of glucose sensors. Accordingly, the invention provides a method of improving the performance of a ROS producing glucose sensor, said method comprising providing the glucose sensor with a ROS removing compartment capable of reducing the diffusion of ROS out of the glucose sensor to a level at which biointerference is abolished or substantially reduced. The invention further relates to use of a ROS removing compartment in a ROS producing glucose, a ROS producing glucose sensor comprising a ROS removing compartment, and to the use of such a sensor in a human.
