  • Publication number: 20220160456
Abstract: An imaging marker comprises a flexible, axially-elongated line-shaped marker, an underlying adhesive, and a flexible, axially-elongated foam spacer extending between an underside of the line-shaped marker and the adhesive. The line-shaped marker is partially radiopaque, partially radiolucent, or is radiopaque, and the foam spacer and adhesive are radiolucent at the levels of radiation used during an imaging procedure. The marker and foam spacer flex and substantially conform to a curvilinear contour of the skin, follow the curvilinear contour of a scar or other anatomical feature on the skin, and prevent forces exerted thereon in flexibly conforming to and following the curvilinear counters from detaching the adhesive from the skin during the imaging procedure.

  • Publication number: 20220160455
Abstract: An imaging marker is radiopaque at the level of radiation used during a radiation treatment planning and/or simulation. An adhesive layer is configured to releasably attach the imaging marker to a surface of a patient's skin. A radiolucent spacer is located between the adhesive layer and the radiopaque marker, and is radiolucent at the level of radiation used during the radiation treatment planning and/or simulation. The radiolucent spacer defines a thickness between the adhesive and substantially the entirety of the underside of the radiopaque marker of at least about 1 millimeter, and therefore spaces substantially the entirety of the underside of the radiopaque marker at least about 1 millimeter away from the skin.

  • Patent number: 11278740
Abstract: A cover for protecting a temporary mark on a person's skin includes a transparent layer and an associated opaque layer, wherein the opaque layer features an opening through which the temporary mark may be located as the cover is applied. An adhesive is superimposed upon the transparent layer in order to releasably affix the cover to the temporary mark, and also to permit maintaining the cover on a backing material during transportation or storage. During use, the mark is sighted through the transparent layer and the opening in the opaque layer, and applied to the patient's skin. The opaque layer is then removed from the transparent layer, which remains in place over the temporary mark, permitting the person to bathe or otherwise participate unhindered in his or her life's routines without smudging, wearing or removing the mark.

  • Patent number: 11135411
Abstract: A device and method are provided for storing a prefilled liquid beverage, receiving an oral contrast imaging agent that is mixed with the prefilled liquid beverage, and dispensing a resulting beverage/oral contrast imaging agent mixture. The device has a body defining a chamber for storing the prefilled liquid beverage. A closure is movable between a closed position for sealing the prefilled liquid in the chamber, and an open position for (i) introducing the oral contrast imaging agent into the chamber for mixture with the prefilled liquid beverage, and (ii) dispensing the beverage/oral contrast imaging agent mixture. The device may include first graduations, a time scale and second graduations. The body defines a substantially smooth, axially extending patient information surface including thereon a plurality of marking spaces and respective patient information indicia associated with each marking space for marking thereon information relating to a respective patient.

  • Patent number: 10143531
Abstract: An image guided biopsy grid markable with marking medium for marking a subject's skin underlying the grid with a marking to identify a needle entry target. The grid includes a flexible substrate and a plurality of substrate pores extending therethrough. An adhesive layer on the underside of the substrate conformingly and removably attaches the substrate to the skin substantially without gapping therebetween. The adhesive layer defines a plurality of adhesive pores and/or adhesive free spaces that allow marking medium to flow through the adhesive layer and onto the skin to mark the skin and identify the needle entry target. The biopsy grid may be marked substantially anywhere along its upper surface and marking medium will pass therethrough and mark the skin.

  • Publication number: 20140276041
Abstract: An oral delivery device for delivering substance directly into a mouth of a patient includes an elongated flexible conduit coupled to a connector at a proximal end thereof for connecting to a substance source, and a nipple portion at an opposing distal end thereof for placement into a mouth of a patient. The nipple portion defines a flow aperture at a distal tip thereof. The distal end of the flexible conduit is located substantially immediately adjacent to, and in sealed fluid communication with, the flow aperture, such that substance exiting the distal end of the conduit substantially directly exits the nipple portion through the flow aperture and enters into the mouth of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20100276056
Abstract: A flexible, durable, cushioning and/or resilient adhesive-backed tape for use with a radiation therapy mask for protecting a user from sharp or pointed curved edges defined thereby. The adhesive is capable of securing the tape to the edges of a radiation therapy mask for an extended period of time. The adhesive tape includes a resilient and/or compressive layer that defines an axially-extending, substantially solid central portion and at least one peripheral portion that defines a plurality of segments that extend from said central portion. The segments allow the tape to conformably attach to a curved edge of a mask and substantially cover and cushion the edge. A liner is removably adhered to the compressive layer for selectively exposing the adhesive and readying the tape for use.

  • Publication number: 20100113912
Abstract: A marker comprising a hollow body filled with a magnetic resonance imaging medium is used to mark specific surface areas of concern or sources of pain on a patient's skin prior to commencing MRI imaging procedures. The hollow body is sized such that the marker appears on less than five MRI slice images, and preferably not more than two MRI slice images, thereby enabling a physician or technician to precisely locate and assess a patient's condition based on the location of the marker in the MRI images.
