  • Publication number: 20150333342
Abstract: The invention relates essentially to an electrical insulation and sealing surround for distributing gases in a high temperature steam electrolyser of SOEC type or in a fuel cell of SOFC type. According to the invention, some of the functions of sealing, distributing gases and providing electrical insulation between interconnectors are grouped together within one and same component in the form of a surround made of electrically insulating material, the recessed zones of which serve to support the actual sealing gaskets, making them easier to use and to maintain.

  • Publication number: 20150329979
Abstract: A method for high-temperature electrolysis of steam and another gas to be electrolysed, chosen from carbon dioxide and nitrogen dioxide, implemented in an electrolysis reactor includes a stack of elementary electrolysis cells each made of a cathode, an anode and an electrolyte inserted between the cathode and the anode, and a plurality of electric and fluid interconnectors each arranged between two adjacent elementary cells with one of the surfaces thereof in electric contact with the anode of one of the two elementary cells and the other one of the surfaces thereof in electric contact with the cathode of the other one of the two elementary cells. The steam is supplied and distributed to the cathode of one of the two adjacent elementary cells and either carbon dioxide or nitrogen dioxide is supplied and distributed to the cathode of the other one of the two elementary cells.

  • Patent number: 8945356
Abstract: A high-temperature module for electrolysis of water with improved operational safety, in which steam containing at most 1% hydrogen can be made to flow simultaneously in each cathode and in each anode, as a draining gas, of a stack of cells. The stack of cells is housed in a sealed case and a mechanism for clamping by compression of the stack is included. The risks of leaks likely to cause impairments of efficiency and breakages of all or part of a stack EHT electrolyzer are reduced, while a high level of efficiency is provided due to the fact that satisfactory electrical conduction is maintained by compression of the stack.

  • Publication number: 20140129191
Abstract: A method for estimating a seal of a gasket, including: digitally simulating, using a computer, a creep deformation of a gasket resulting from crushing of the gasket between two bearing surfaces; calculating, at an interface between the gasket and one of the two bearing surfaces and during the computer simulation, a cumulative plastic deformation of the gasket, an axial stress between the gasket and the one the two bearing surfaces, and a contact length between the gasket and the one of the two bearing surfaces; and calculating a simulated porosity filling coefficient, representing the seal of the gasket at the interface.

  • Patent number: 8424878
Abstract: A device including a metal substrate and a ceramic substrate including a back-tapered groove separated from each other by a sealed flexible link. The link includes: a metal element including an end connected to the metal substrate and at another end housed in the groove of the ceramic substrate, the metal element being elastically deformable both in the groove along a direction radial to the groove and, in the separation space between the metal substrate and the ceramic substrate along the separation direction, and a joint-forming mass with a greater thermal expansion coefficient than that of the ceramic substrate and adhesively bonded to the end of the metal element housed in the back-tapered groove, the joint fitting with direct contact a portion of the height of convergent sidewalls of the groove.

  • Patent number: 8408447
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a module with a hollow area by hot isostatic compression, including: making an assembly including superposed elements defining the hollow area, the assembly forming a sealed casing containing the hollow area, including at least one meltable obturation member separating the hollow area from the outside of the assembly; followed by hot isostatic compression of the assembly, to obtain diffusion-welding of its elements, by letting temperature and pressure conditions change over time to cause a rupture of the meltable obturation member allowing pressurization gas to penetrate into the hollow area.
