    Abstract: This invention provides compositions of matter for treating and preventing certain mammalian disorders ameliorated by either an increase or decrease in phagocytosis or ICAM-1 expression in appropriate cells. This invention also provides methods of altering the phagocytosis or ICAM-1 expression level in a cell. This invention further provides methods of treating and preventing mammalian disorders affected by the alteration of phagocytosis or ICAM-1 expression. The instant methods and composition of matter all relate to the use of agents that specifically increase or decrease phagocytosis or ICAM-1 expression. Finally, this invention provides related articles of manufacture.
