  • Publication number: 20230077412
Abstract: A bioreactor device includes a solid substrate having a first face and a second face. The solid substrate at least partially defines a perfusion channel, a plurality of chambers, a fluidic inlet, and a fluidic outlet. A first sheet disposed over the first face and a second sheet disposed over the second face. Characteristically, the combination of the solid substrate, the first sheet and the second sheet define the perfusion channel and each chamber of the plurality of chambers. The plurality of chambers are arranged in rows of chambers in which adjacent chambers are positioned at opposite side of the perfusion channel. The perfusion channel extends from the fluidic inlet and the fluidic outlet having a serpentine path along each row of chambers with each chamber being in fluid communication with the perfusion channel.

  • Patent number: 8057483
Abstract: An instrument for implanting tissue in an eye or other body member is disclosed. The instrument includes an elongated mandrel and a tubular nozzle arranged over the mandrel. The instrument also includes a piston engaging an end of the nozzle and a vacuum passage arranged in the piston. The instrument also includes a body having a portion of the piston arranged therein with one end of the mandrel being secured to the body. The instrument also includes an actuator integrated with the body wherein the actuator interacts with the piston to control movement of the nozzle relative to the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 6159218
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and instrument for implanting retinal tissue into the subretinal space of the eye comprising the steps of inducting a fragment of retinal tissue into a tubular nozzle of an instrument by retracting a mandrel telescoped internally of the nozzle, incising the pars plana region of the eye, incising the retina of the eye to expose a subretinal target area, inserting the nozzle of the instrument through the incisions in the pars plana and retina of the eye, orientating an open end of the nozzle over the target area of the retina, and retracting the nozzle relative to the mandrel of the instrument to deposit the tissue in the target area of the eye.
